Huckabee’s ad had Chuck Norris in it, but was mostly about Huckabee. It helped introduce Huckabee to the voting public. It was funny, direct, hit several bullet points, and had punch. (The puns even write themselves.) Huckabee must have had good media consultants and listened to them. That’s part of how he was able to beat better known and better funded candidates. Cain is trying to be his own media consultant, and is failing. Cain’s ad is a mess. Not a hot mess, but a mess that was left on the counter overnight and is now smelly and full of food poisoning. ---

I can’t decide which is worse. This mess or his brutal and vicious combined assault on both the memory of the 9/11 attacks and the poor, defenseless ‘God Bless America’. ---

The problem of course is that it relied on a meme that was already thoroughly dead and unfunny at the time - had been for a decade. In essence the ad was saying “I’m with you, internet people ! Like you I’m hip, with it and like to boogie like a jive cat, you dig ?”. How can anyone not roll their eyes ? … oh yeah, Iowa. Forget it, then 🙂 ---

I would like to point out that the problem is _western_ Iowa. which is negatively affected by proximity to Nebraska and Kansas. That can’t be mentally healthy for anyone. ---

Those were some pretty rough-and-tumble card-carrying liberals. Shouldn’t they have looked more like effete dandies from “back East”? Frilly clothes, fancy book-learnin’, that sort of thing? Also didn’t help that at first I thought the black “liberal” was Cain. ---

I think it was meant to imply that all Liberals judge people based on color and think black folks need extra help, while Conservatives are all color-blind and want everyone else to give them all their money and die quickly, regardless of skin color. At least that is what I am getting from the campaign ads, debates and party platform. Oh, and Herman Cain likes girly, yellow flowers. 😃 ---

If so, then let’s see Cain run for statewide office in Georgia. He’s clearly out of his depth on the national stage. Now, it’s clear to me that people in Georgia are in fact more racist, by most measures, than people in say, Minnesota. Still, it’s more complicated than that, I fully take your point that a dark skinned black man with a thick Southern accent will be taken seriously by more people in Georgia than he would in New York City. In NYC, Caine wouldn’t stand a chance of winning anything. If he’s serious about public service, instead of making a vanity run, let him run for governor of the state of Georgia. I maintain that a white guy with his record as a corporate CEO and good old boy accent would have little trouble winning the Republican nomination as governor. I further maintain that Caine’s race, and his race alone, would be the main obstacle being nominated for statewide office. ---

Maybe after his POTUS run crashes and burns he’ll run for office in Ga. He’ll still need better media consultants than the ones that let this video get out under his campaign’s imprimatur. ---
