Quick question for the doctory-types on the SDMB. If there were to be a tender protrusion about an inch or less long and about a centimeter wide just to the side of the rectum which is firm to the touch, should a person be worried?

IANAD, but I’m worried and it’s not even my butt.

Call your doctor!

Sounds like hemmorhoids.

No need to worry, but if it hurts or is bleeding, see your doctor. He may remove some blood clots and tell you to sit in a shallow warm bath.

Well, I talked to _a_ doctor last night - my brother. He found a lot of humor in the situation. He is specialized in GI internal medicine, and he didn’t have the slightest as to what it is. Probably poor descriptions on my part (it’s really hard to describe something on your backside, let alone _see_ it.) He balked at the suggestion I take a picture of it and e-mail it to him.

'Tisn’t hemmoroids. It’s not itchy or exhibiting any rash-like symptoms.

I’ve been warm compressing it, with little results. I’ll probably run by the urgent care center tonight to get prodded. But dammit, I’ve got shit to do. Man, what a pain in the ass.
