1. Peter is dumb. 2. Deaf people can and do use phones. They have to have special devices on each end to type (or a relay service if the other end doesn’t have such a device), and I suppose they might be obsolete these days (I have no idea if so or not) what with computers and chatting and texting and so on, but it’s certainly possible to call a deaf person. 3. Peter is dumb. Take your pick. ---

I noticed it too and it made me giggle. My vote is for the writers are dumb. I don’t give them credit for knowing about TTY.
