When Kroger implemented the stupid cards, I emailed their customer service to complain and let them know I would not be shopping at their store any more (yes, I know I should’ve written an actual letter). I told them it was none of their business how many Pop Tarts I bought, and that they only needed to know how many the store sold overall. They gave me some BS about better serving the customer, to which I responded that I was well aware of what a customer database can provide to a business (I work for a retail corporation that captures customer data).
Albertson’s was my last hope. Damn it, I don’t want to have to go to Wal-Mart to do my grocery shopping, and CostCo isn’t feasible for everything.
Count me in as another one that Safeway refuses to acknowledge the name change. For TWO YEARS I’ve been trying to get them to change it from my maiden name to my married name. Never mind that on my check it has both my husband’s and my name…you’d think that would give the checker a clue.
I can’t count how many times I’ve turned in a change of information form that apparently is just deposited directly into the trash. Either I’m going to write them a letter or I’m just going to get a whole new card. I don’t know why I haven’t just gotten the new card before now–I guess it’s because I’m just amazed at how many times I’ve tried to change it and nothing happens. I keep thinking, “Maybe this time…”
Oh, and…the cards really don’t bother me. I don’t care if they know I’m buying zucchini and condoms.
Sometimes at the store, the cashier will look at the bottom of the receipt at that special line that tells you how much you saved using their little card and he or she will say, “Thank you, your Fresh Deal Savings Chopper Customer Care Card Program Membership Savings Plan saved you $9.65 today!!!”
My reply is always the same. “Thank you. Imagine how much I would have saved if I had just stayed home.”
