Agreed. I was always respectful to the umps, even when they missed one, which wasn’t often. Example to the kids, and all that. I wouldn’t have even muttered under my breath, actually, and an ump never needed to calm me down or otherwise correct my behavior. Not true for all the coaches, unfortunately.
