Assuming you don’t mind being seen with a guy carrying a sign. Let’s not get all . . . sheep like. A different Thursday, or a different day are fine with me, although Wednesday and Thursday are best, for sure. Weekends are out. Noon is fine, and so is later, or earlier, so, when you think about it, post about it, and we will find out what works best for everyone. Tris ---

How’sabout a Fairfax Doper Lunch time time? Sounds like there are at least 3 of us! (I’m at Fair Lakes). A trip into DC at lunch just ain’t happening on a workday for me, sorry, but I could do Fairfax, or even Falls Church or even (shudder) Tyson’s. ---

Tyson’s makes me shudder, too. I could do lunch around Falls Church or better yet Merrifield which looks to be about midway between where I work in Arlington and Fair Lakes. There are a pack of restaurants at Gallows and Rt 50 with good parking and fairly good access from Rt 66. ---

Fairfax, the Oakton end, but still in the City. Okay, I’ll eat lunch with anyone, any Thursday, whenever you can get there. I live at the far end of Fairfax City, So Merrifield is fine location wise, although I don’t know what sort of food they have there. Oakton, or the Pan Am Shopping Center end of Fairfax is convenient to Metro. (and my place, not to hint too loudly.) (I too find Tyson’s Corner unexciting.) Perhaps the Fairfax Dope Luncheon would be worth a separate thread. If it is a day other than Wednesday or Thursday, I can still come, if it isn’t any farther away than Merrifield. Tris ---

Tris [/QUOTE] Merrifield being the area around Gallows Road - there’s a Sweetwater Tavern there, and also (I think) Chevy’s and PF Chang, plus fast-foody places like Wendy’s. Anyone who might want to come from further in: that’s actually fairly convenient to the Dunn Loring Metro though we’d need to know you were coming so someone could pick you up at the Metro station. Thursdays are generally OK for me though I have a telecon at 2ish most weeks. ---

Hi everyone. I’d be up for lunch too. I live in Alexandria (however it’s right on the border of Arlington), and work in Rosslyn. So I’d be willing to go anywhere between DC and possibly even Fairfax (traffic’s not bad during the middle of the day so it would only take me 20 minutes). How about sometime in November? ---

OK, I’m up for it. Someone else should start the Merrifield Lunch Bunch Thread, probably Monday. Map links, and assurances that I can pick folks up at Vienna Metro, which is hemi-demi-semi-on-my-way to Merrifield. The North end of the Walkway, where the CUE Bus stop is. (Not the South end, where the Metro Bus stop is.) Rather than being all democratic, someone who has actually eaten at one of these eating places should say, Meet Here at Xo’clock. Those who can, will. Those who can’t can mewl and whine. Meeting at Vienna Metro should be 15 minutes earlier than that. (Dunn Loring Metro might be closer to the place, but it is further for me. (not to mention that some sumbitch in Dunn Loring cut down the largest American Elm in the entire state there, some years back, and I am still holding a grudge.) Someone wants to arrange that, it’s hunky dory with me.) I won’t bother with the sign, It’s a tan Toyota, with the engine running, in the bus stop lot. Tris ---
