Very well…I have _direct observational evidence_ that spirits DO exist. No, it’s not in any peer-reviewed journal (not yet) and I haven’t published a thesis yet, but I’m working on one. My evidence could lead to a major breakthrough in theoretical physics…or become the subject of a fictional novel. Which do you choose, empirical knowledge or fantasy entertainment? The fate of the world (as pertains to my future career path) hinges on your answer. ---

I don’t know about you, but I define a good pit thread as one where someone actually _proves_ that he has a reason to be outraged. I read most of the linked thread; I don’t see what you see and, apparently, I’m not alone. I think we’re open to argument, though, so I’d suggest you (you know) detail where Der Trihs went wrong. To be perfectly honest, though, I can’t for the life of me make sense of half of what you said in that thread. Psychological tricks are magical because we can’t explain them yet? As far as I can tell, things we can’t explain yet are just that—things we can’t yet explain. For what reason other than vacuous metaphor is it at all enlightening to call it magic? What does that have to do with souls? ---
