Randi deposited the money into an escrow account for the winning claimant, actual real money. He lets the claimants design the test, which they do not have to take until they themselves are satisfied Randi doesn’t design the tests. The subjects certainly look ridiculous but that’s not Randi’s fault. Just like you claiming JREF is a nigerian phone scam(which is what a 419 operation is) makes you look ridiculous and it ain’t Der Trihs’ fault. ---

Hell, if you really want to try an experiment, take Der’s own posts and simply change the word “conservatives” to “liberals” and see how long it takes to get your OP locked, moved or Warned. Why, then, would that be moved while Der is allowed to repeat the exact same claims, time and again, as long as he uses the word “conservatives” instead of “liberals”? I mean, hell, that isn’t even getting into the fact that Der doesn’t even believe his own bullshit, and just spews anti-religious hate and anti-American hate, and then turns around and explicitly supports warmongering and theocracy. You can’t make this shit up. He’s on record as saying that he’d support anybody as long as they opposed the United States, and specifically supporting Iran’s gay-killing, Jew-killing theocracy while opposing the vast majority of the Iranian people’s wishes for peace with the US and Israel, democracy and a cessation to their nuclear program. His is the kind of janus-faced hate-based spew that allows him to claim that he opposes theocracy while stating that Iran’s theocrats should continue to oppress their own people and deny them peace and democracy… because the United States is just so evil that the theocratic warmongers in control of Iran’s government need to be supported. So he’s not only allowed to flame freely in GD, but to do so on subjects (eg. religion, aggressive military endeavors) that he doesn’t even honestly believe in? How does that make good, let alone consistent moderating policy? ---

Having to explain a joke always kills it, but… Of course Randi will die “soon”. An 80 year old man who’s already had one bypass operation, statistically, isn’t going to live a tremendously long time. Hell, a perfectly healthy 80 year old man, statistically, isn’t going to live a tremendously long time. Hell, someone who said “Holocaust survivors will soon all be gone and then their records will be much more important when dealing with Deniers” would be correct, even though they’d be talking in terms of decades. Of course, I have no idea what KGS was going on about or why he’d think that Randi’s demise was imminent. I figured that the huge grinning smiley would tip you off to the fact that I was being somewhat tongue in cheek. Maybe next time I’ll use multiple smilies. ---

Hmm, late to the party. Not that people were clamoring for my input. 1. At this point, string theory is at best a mathematical theory, not a scientific theory. 2. Math doesn’t prove souls exist either. 3. Even math **KGS** doesn’t understand. 4. Classic Lib flame-out in that thread, really made it feel like the same old SDMB. 5. Reading auras over the internet has about as much of a scientific basis as diagnosing mental problems over the internet. That shit was sad and ridiculous. ---

Has Der Trihs ever actually said anything like “I support the Iranian Revolutionary Government, The great President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, The Supreme Ruler and servant of God Ayatollah Ali Khameni; and I wish them well in their struggle against the Perfidious Jew and the Decadent Homosexual?” Or has he simply argued against launching air strikes against or invading Iran? You mean a TV show didn’t do a 100% scientific test? Not even a show designed to cater to the woo-woo crowd that went on to claim his abilities were real after he failed a simple test? :rolleyes: Claimants have to agree to the test before anything happens. Randi does not spring surprise tests on people. How many chances should he have had? How many were necessary? If the man could do what he claimed, this should have been sufficient.
