He claimed that he “opposed” the theocrats while turning right around and saying that the Iranian people couldn’t be allowed to govern themselves and the theocrats needed to maintain power so that they could oppose the US by pointing nuclear weapons at it. The funny part is that Der is exactly what he hates. He supports a tyranical, brutal regime because it opposes his enemies. Classic American realpolitik. He’d have made a perfect Cold Warrior back in the day. But I’m sure he doesn’t even realize it. The subjects certainly look ridiculous but that’s not Randi’s fault. No, Randi designs the tests, and the claimant signs a contract agreeing to the rules. Yes, the people who fall for his scam are mostly ignorant, unskilled people who claim some psychic ability but don’t really understand the fundamentals of how their “power” works. More importantly, they are distracted by the ONE MILLION DOLLARS waved in front of their face, like the carrot in front of the mule. No wonder they always fail – greed and distraction are big no-no’s when you want to apply your willpower to make something happen using the power of your mind (not that I’m claiming such a thing is _always_ possible, but those are the baseline principles of New Age and Pagan Magick.) The claimants probably didn’t even think to [ground & center](http://www.witchscauldron.net/cauldron/center.htm) first…another big no-no. ---

Some want to keep going with the hard-core, right-wing, ultra-conservative Christians (the Sarah Palin types) while others want to eschew the religious right and return to the party’s original platform of social and _fiscal_ conservatism. A rift in the party is imminent, but only time will tell how it happens, or when it happens (probably not until the next election cycle, I predict.) ---

Has “Liar!!” ever convinced anyone, on any message board, of the incorrectness of their position? What’s wrong with quoting the chunk of post and then instead either posting a refutation or optionally asking for clarification as to how the person reached their conclusion? ---
