Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuckity fuck. Logitech apparently discontinued the corded version of their Trackball at the beginning of the year. All they’re selling is the wireless version, which I Do Not Need and Do Not Want. I don’t want to deal with battery issues, and I don’t want to deal with possible interference and line of sight issues, and apparently the wireless version has other problems. Judging by the forums, there are a lot of people out there who are just as unhappy about this as I am. And judging from some of the posts, Logitech has no intention of reversing the decision. I can’t even figure out the rationale for the decision. It’s a popular product. Why drop it? You can’t find the wired version for love or (anything less than obscene amounts of) money anywhere. So fuck you, Logitech. Fuck you upside, downside, and sideside. That was a well made, useful product, and there isn’t another like it on the market, and I am very, very unhappy. ---

I can’t decide if this is a minirant or not, but fuck you Indian scammers trying to play on people’s fears about their computers and the internet. I’m on my way to the shower on Saturday and the phone rings. I stop to answer it: “Hello madam I’m calling from Microsoft certified technical support…” No. No you’re not. A) Microsoft don’t call people out of the blue on a fucking saturday like that, B) Microsoft don’t call people out of the blue at all and c) Even if Microsoft DID call people out of the blue like that, any registration I do for software has my mobile number as a contact number if I put a legitimate contact number down at all, and it certainly does NOT have my home phone number as a contact number. I should have played with them a bit. After he hung up on me I had all sorts of ideas about hoops to make them jump through (What version of windows am I running? What service pack? What sort of computer is it?). As it was, I just responded with “No you’re not”. He kept trying to insist that he was from Microsoft Certified Support and there was Something Very Wrong with my computer. I kept this up until he hung up on me. But it bugs the shit out of me. I know what this crap is about. I know I never registered any sort of user data when I set up windows on my machine (And I’ve reformatted and reinstalled windows enough times in the last 12 months to be absolutely sure of that), and I know that this is a scam. They tell you there’s something wrong with your computer, and they’ll do “free” support for you. But quelle surprise, the only way you can remove the problematic software from your computer is with this handy software they’ll get you to download. It only needs a valid credit card and full access to administrator privilages on your computer! I know plenty of people who have their computers set up by someone else, who don’t know the first thing beyond The Google and The Hotmail when it comes to computers, and who probably would panic like hell getting a call from someone professing to be from Microsoft. And yes, I know caveat emptor when it comes to anything on or to do with the internet. But it’s still a dick move, trying to scare people into falling for your goddamn scams. ---

Plus I was reading a book Friday and put it down somewhere in the house and now I can’t find it. I’ve checked on every flat surface, both bathrooms, under the bed and my comfy chair, and even the kitchen cabinets and fridge and freezer. Not that I’ve ever put a book in the fridge or freezer, but I’ve heard people have in the past. No sign of it. And I haven’t finished reading it yet. :mad: ---

The wife of a guy I know and game with was forwarding out all sorts of offensive emails about gays in the military, Muslims and Obama. I just put on a filter that says if it came from her and it was forwarded, dump it straight in the trash Have not seen an email from her since then. ---

I’m feeling oddly crappy right this instant. My sinuses are going nuts, my eyes feel weird and kinda itchy (I’ve heard of that but I can’t recall it ever happening to me) and my breathing feels… Off. Like I have a chest cold and it’s laborious to breathe, but not like I can’t breathe. I just took some sinutab, and my emergency inhaler just to be on the safe side, but if this gets any worse I’m off to the clinic. I don’t have time to be sick right now, Friday I can get sick, but not right now with the midterm in a couple days and this being month and quarter end. Not allowed! ---

I went there tonight for some stuff and wandered a bit and now feel like crap. Thinking on it, the last time I felt similar to this, I was doing inventory. It’s always inventory, is it dust or something? It doesn’t happen often enough for me to remember but the itchy/dry eyes is new I think. At least the sinutab helps, and being out of the warehouse I feel better. ☹ ---

Could be dust, maybe wood dust. I turned up allergic to both of those, plus some kind of mold, during childhood allergy testing. BTW, I have to highly recommend the Kirkland brand Allertec - house brand Zyrtec for seriously cheap. ---

Gawddammit, even more irritating than the house thing a few posts back is the fuckin’ NFL putting everybody in ugly-assed pink for the Susan Komen foundation. Now I don’t know shit about Susan Komen, and I don’t want to disrespect the fine (I guess) work they do in regards to breast cancer, but goddamn it, does every fuckin’ player have to wear fuckin’ _pink_? Pink gloves, pink “eyeblack”, pink towels… WTF? And I’m going to see this shit for the entire month. ☹ ---

And for a variety of reasons best summed up as “fuck the Army”, everyone in this building is living two or three to a room? I joined this past winter. I could’ve applied to be an officer, but wanted a guarantee of a short-ish term in the military and a certain job to get me places in the civilian world. ---

Fucking insomnia. Here I am at 4:30 a.m. surfing the fucking SDMB because I’m too tired to concentrate on anything more involved. And I haven’t had a good night’s sleep in over a week because I’m getting the house painted and they start a scrapin’ and a bangin’ at 8 a.m., usually a prime sleeping time for me ( I work evenings, am up late and sleep best in the early morning ). I’m praying for rain today, just so they leave off. Plus I’m having buyer’s remorse over the new paint colors. Whine, whine, whine. I hate my utterly trivial misfortunes.
