In the county where my daughter teaches, there’s talk of canceling school on the 21st, not because of the Mayans, but because there are rumors that \*something \*may be planned for that day by certain students. Knowing the county fairly well, I can understand the concern. My daughter said the decision/announcement won’t be made till late Thursday or first thing Friday - a preemptive strike, I guess. So she may or may not get a free half day off (they were only going to have a half day anyway…) ---

I was given a day off to use before year end because of all the hours I worked during ‘Sandy’. The 21st was open, it was a Friday, so I took it. My kids have a 1/2 day, but half day Fridays are easy days. I’m going to take us all to lunch at a local mall. There’s a Chinese food place at the food court that they like when I’ve taken them there in the past. Afterwards, they like to walk and window shop some. Who knows what will happen. The world may end during chicken with noodles. It may end with us walking through holiday crowds. It may end with a little boy looking up at me and asking me if maybe Santa would get him a certain game for Xmas. Look, if I can spend my last moments on earth making my kids happy, then my life did have a purpose. If the world doesn’t end, I get what? A great day with my kids & a small bump on my VISA bill? Heh. I can live with that. ---

I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere but, what time is the world supposed to end? Is it going to be a rolling catastrophe? Will it start ending in New Zealand, so I can watch it on CNN (sorta like Y2K), or will it end at 1 minute after midnight MAT (Mayan Apocalypse Time)? ---

If there’s nothing more, it doesn’t make a whole lot of difference what one does. On the other hand, if one has some repentin’ to do before the big judgement, it’s probably a good time to start working on that. ---

I was talking to a coworker today while we were on a break from my seven(7) hour HR orientation meeting and we were a little punchy by that time. He insisted that he believed the world was ending and that everyone really does they just hide it with different degrees of skill. So I turned to the clerk and bought a lottery ticket for Friday’s draw. We both got a laugh out of it anyway. ---

Just to be safe, we had one hell of a great final Mexican-food meal last night at [Sunrise Tacos](http://sunrisetacos.com/). A hell of a place and the closest we could get to Mayan fare. And they ain’t stingy with the tequila in their margaritas neither. ---

My advice for everyone is to enjoy this _End of the World_ while they can; one never knows when there will be another one. I plan on getting a lot of pictures, for posterity. ---

We’re down to the last few hours now. I keep waiting for a newsbreak announcement about an asteroid. It’s cloudy here in Central VA, so I can’t tell if the sun is acting up.
