I know what trilogy this is. It may be too late for you (if you have completist tendencies like I do) but do yourself a favor and stop reading NOW.
Not for the specific problem you mention, though that is indeed bad, but because the author TOTALLY lost interest in this series after the second book. The third was published, but it’s not really a book. It reads more like a detailed outline of what he originally planned to write but couldn’t be troubled to put in the effort of actually writing it. You know, with things like action and characterization? Rather than pages long info-dumped recaps.
Super disappointing conclusion. Actually, worse than the many incomplete series (War against the Chtorr, anyone?) there really isn’t a chance of getting a conclusion to.

Nope. No, you’re not. Absolutely fucking crazy to go storming up to another car. The driver could have shot **peedin** and claimed self - defense. And probably get away with it in some jurisdictions.

It might be helpful to remember that assaults and that sort of thing are way down this year, stranger murder is way up.
Lately, a whole bunch of folks go to bed pissed off, wake up pissed off and spend their entire days being pissed off and have been doing so for a couple of years. All that suppressed rage has to come out somewhere.
Edited to mention that friends with barky dogs are back. Of course the cats are upset, but at least VeryGoodKitty has gotten used to the confusion. Stupid little barky dogs seem to have totally forgotten ever being here.

I’m near the end of book 2, so I’ll finish it, but I can skip the 3rd, life is too short to be angry at a book.

The more I read receipts and discover that I’m being charged more than the listed price the more I check my receipts and see I’m being charged more than the stated price. And it’s increasingly pissing me off. Sometimes it’s not much, Big Bacon Classic at Wendy’s is .10 more than stated on the board behind the register. Sometimes it’s significant, Sterling Cabernet at the local liquor store is $2.00 more than listed, that’s a 20% increase. Broccoli is sold as a bunch or crowns at the grocery store, the self checkout just had a broccoli button, it goes to bunch automatically doubling the price.
I often notify the low payed staff who then roll their eyes and find a manager to give me the missing change or void the sale and restart, I realize it’s not their fault. But then I get pissed these ‘clerical errors’ keep happening in corporate’s favor and they have no incentive to sort their shit out.

How long should a fucking bruise scrape burn take to heal. I whacked my shin on an iron cart, the same one that was hurt in a fall earlier this year. Then my next brilliant move was to spill scalding water down same leg.
It’s been oh 4-6 weeks. Doesn’t hurt, throb or feel feverish, but it’s a plum sized red supernova with a magenta blob in the middle. FFS!
Some days I think it’s lightening up and shrinking other days it’s as red as Mars angry like Venus.
I’ll call the doc don’t know why I’m procrastinating but no pain no complain.
Oh and poison ivy on the back of same leg? I nuked the blisters with steroid cream. No itch and it’s contained but those nasty little blisters remain. And the fucking PI vine is sprouting everywhere in my yard. Suddenly I want a 55 gallon drum of RoundUp.

I am fed up with birds.
They awaken me with their brainless squawking before dawn. The nasty little barn swallows who built a nest on my porch ceiling fan swoop around me emitting warning chirps if I am within 150 feet of their rotten incontinent nestlings. They have even enlisted help from their relatives in harassing me. The porch is getting inundated with bird crap.
They better goddam well fly away soon, or they get the hose.

I’ve been following him on Twitter, because someone else I follow had some references. I find his tweets amusing.
But I read “The Android’s Dream”, which I had picked up some years ago. I’m not sure if I want to ever read another book by him. I thought I might try “Old Man’s War”, but this isn’t very promising.

I looked into this recently. I scraped the back of my ankle just above shoe level about 3 months ago. It was a nasty scrape, but it was a scrape. I ignored it.
After about a month I realized I still had a wound, so I looked at it more closely and saw it looked worse than when it was new. I consulted with my daughter (a nurse) who told me it had characteristics of a non-healing chronic wound.
I stopped wearing shoes/socks, began soaking the foot twice daily and keeping it neosporined/bandaged. It has slowly healed.

That describes it, non-healing chronic wound. At least it’s pink and not dead looking, necrosis?
I don’t dare seek out images, and I’ve been keeping it moist as it will dry out and that looks worse.

I read the first one, not realizing it was the beginning of a trilogy. I hadn’t decided whether I wanted to read any more; I was torn between wondering where the story was going to go and not sure that I really cared. Thanks for helping me decide.

And now I’m finishing this book, and the character I hate has shown up again, out of nowhere being the brains behind a pirate attack on a science vessel. I don’t know why she arranged this, it just ruined an interesting diversion where a long lost group of people were discovered, it’s all about this murderous family again.
