Hey Rabbi, get your herpes laden lips off kid's bloody dicks

“Silly rabbi, dicks are for KIDS!”

:golf clap:

Regards,
Shodan

Our society generally prohibits adult/child genital contact regardless of intent, except under clearly defined circumstances (medical professionals, parents, maybe caregivers in the context of a bath). Why should these guys be excepted?

Should I have said “clap”?

I see what you did there.

Waaaiiit…isn’t it possible for a woman who’s infected with herpes to pass it to the child as he travels through the birth canal if she’s having an outbreak? Has anybody looked at that angle?

Well, her obstetrician and gynecologists…

I want to be at the meeting thousands of years ago, in a land far, far away, where Ehud and his tribal council are discussing this issue and how to handle it. I just can’t imagine that giving a bloody blowjob to an infant was the best solution. If that’s what they ended up with, imagine the ideas that were rejected!

Seems like enough reasons right there not to do this, right there.

HA! Suddenly, Rabbi Shlomo’s idea of cauterizing with a blowtorch doesn’t seem so bad, huh?

Thanks to the OP I’ve now got this stupid Jim Reeves oldie going through my head.

I wonder if the guy whose idea this belong to was rubbing his hands together and licking his lips while suggesting it

Ever get a cut and suck on it? Thought so. I don’t remember ever sucking on someone else’s cut (I’m not a vampire, damn it), but imagine that is the basis of the custom (IANAJ, so there may be some whole other explanation).

Of course, with modern medical knowledge, they should cut this shit right out. They should be able to come up with some method of symbolically doing the same thing, if it’s important to the ritual.

I suggest we clean it with a damp cloth.

I’m sorry, but we’re only allowed to accept 4 proposed solutions to vote on.

Wait, there were 4 already?

Yeah, we had “bloody blowjob,” “hit it with a hammer,” “sacrifice him to our God,” and what appears to be some kind of rick roll.

Well, can we have a vote to allow more than 4 proposals to vote on?

Well, sure. I mean, there’s already a vote pending on that.

Well, that’s great - when will we the vote be?

Tomorrow. But I wouldn’t get your hopes up. Someone has attached a rider to it mandating sex education in pre-school.

I hate democracy.

I got kicked in the crotch more than once as a kid, and my mom never offered to kiss it and make it better.

Just sayin’.

That’s funny, if I had a nickel for every time your mom offered to kiss mine…

“Try rubbing a porcupine on it. OK, clearly that didn’t work.”

Just so we’re clear, I wasn’t suggesting it was; just a rumination on the habit of certain persons to pretend expertise in an area where they actually (probably?) have none.

And a cheap shot at SA, admittedly.

And more proof, I guess, that if you have to explain the joke, it didn’t work.

sigh

Haredi leaders can fuck off with their condemnation. It’s unhealthy and unnecessary, and just because something is given the label “religious practice” shouldn’t make it off-limits to Health Department warnings.

This is a prime example of how religion allows bronze-age non-thinking to survive well beyond its use-by date. The sexual aspect only muddies the waters regarding the health issue, which IMHO is the primary point here.

As a Jew, I feel I should say a few things-

While oral suction is gross and carries a risk of infection, odds are it isn’t going away any time soon.

The rabbi involved is an idiot. If you’re going to be putting your mouth on an infant’s wounds, then you make sure your mouth is clean.

I like to consider myself pretty open minded, and not often truly surprised at the things my fellow humans get up to. People do weird shit constantly, especially in the name of faith and religion. I also know a thing or two about a thing or two, and not only have I never heard of this, I’m kind of shocked. I haven’t the capacity to imagine how the ancient peoples got from point A to point B on this, and am further boggled at how the practice has made it this far into modern times. How is this practice defensible at all?
Even from a live and let live perspective, it’s just so…out there.

Would this be where the rumor that Jews drink the blood of babies come from? If I was an outsider seeing this, I would be totally mortified and think all kinds of things
