I drink tea in the morning, Earl Grey tea, to be precise. A nice black tea flavored with bergamot. Hey, bergamot is another name for bee balm, or [monarda!](http://s56.photobucket.com/albums/g161/twickster/misc%20shit/?action=view¤t=monarda-06-0810-1.jpg) I knew they make tea out of monarda – but who’d thunk it would be in Earl Grey tea! Cool! Oh, bummer, nope, different stuff altogether – the [Bergamot orange](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bergamot_orange). Sigh. What disappointments have you experienced this morning? ---

The liquid creamer I like at work has been replaced with a powdered creamer. And by powdered I mean chalk-like. And by creamer I mean mouse piss. ---

I was similarly disappointed when I found out that the “bergamot” you can buy at gardening stores is very different from the actual bergamot used in Earl Grey tea! I still feel a little betrayed. I loathe Starbucks, but was in the grocery store to drop off a shampooer that I woke up an an unogly hour to finish using to prepare for new roommates anyway, so I ordered a latte, and forgot to get an extra shot. ☹ Disappointment ensued. ---

This is a lesson learned early in herbal studies - common names for plants are notoriously variable. There must be three dozen plants known as “motherwort”. You MUST learn your Latin binomials or you might seriously hurt someone with a misinterpreted recommendation. “Bee balm” might refer to Melissa officinalis, Monarda didyma or Monarda Fistulosa, among others. Only the last one is also commonly called “Bergamot”, but as you’ve found, so is Citrus bergamia. Isn’t this all so simple? 😃 ---

I was reading something yesterday, though, where the author was calling it Bergamot, and I had a :smack: moment. With another good :smack: this morning when I looked it up. Anyway, no one, as far as I know, still calls monarda “Oswego tea.” ---

I woke up half an hour late for work today and just caught the train about 10 seconds before the doors closed so I could be to work on time. Also, my roommate just texted me that the new cat (who feels his box must be scooped twice per day even though I feel that is insane and once per day should be sufficient) pooped outside the box because I was running late this morning and had no time for scooping. She cleaned it up though so I am appreciative of that. ---

My wife and I made some kick-ass quiche last night that I brought in for breakfast this morning. I microwaved it and took it back to my desk to eat. Unfortunately, it turned out that the microwave hadn’t heated it all the way through, so some of it was cold. But by then, I was doing work stuff and didn’t have time to get back up to reheat it. Yes, cold quiche can be good, but not when there’s some hot and some cold. ---

I went to bed at 11 and was very pleased that I had all my homework for my hellish Monday classes done and was getting to bed at a remarkably civil hour. Normally I’m up until the wee hours on Sunday. Then I woke up at about 4 AM with a migraine and couldn’t get out of bed until about ten, thus missing my two morning classes. ---
