Hmm. I’ve quit collecting stuff as the house is geting too cluttered for my liking, but I’m always looking out for little girl clothes, cute and in good shape. This is pretty objective, though, so I can’t really have others go out and look for that for me. On the other hand, if you’re looking at kid’s clothes and find footed pajamas with a zipper up the front rather than snaps, in size 12-18 months and up, I will be glad to rebuy them from you. I don’t find them that often and I like those so much better than the ones with all of the snaps. I have a daughter, but with PJs, I’m not picky as to prints.
I also look for vintage/retro sewing patterns in larger sizes (modern 12 and up) and again, little girl/baby patterns, uncut.
I’ll keep an eye out for some of the other stuff that was mentioned.
tanookie, have you ever gone to the flea market in Salem (NH) on the weekend? It’s not too far from you, and they have all sorts of odd collectables there; kind of like a perminent yard sale There’s a store right near there- can’t miss it, it’s the odd shaped building on a wedge-shaped lot by itself- that sells games and collectables too, and they might be able to special order things if you ask nicely. I know they’ve gotten special order comics for my best friend.
angelicate, I’m getting ready to go through the Weeping Princess’s clothes so I can list them on ebay. I’ll keep my eyes out for good stuff in your range, and if you want, I’ll email you when I get my lots listed.
Two things I would like:
-an Edwardian smoking jacket (size large) Preferably in green silk, with shawl lapels…ca. 1900 wouldbe nice!
-a Maxfield Parrish painting (don’t pay more than $5.00)! This should be worth about $25,000.00!
Huh. I had one of these hanging in my hallway but I decided it was a little out of place with all my other furnishings, and gave it to my daughter to color in.
Smart aleck
I’m looking for horse figurines, but I’m very picky. Older chinas with good details (Hagen Renakers), and older plastic Breyer models, but not the common ones. Definitely not Barbie horses, or other cheap plastic models (which often don’t even look like horses, they’re just vaguely horse-shaped).
My ultimate holy grail would be an old Breyer decorator - those are model horses painted either blue or gold, or mottled blue or gold. They were made back in the 60s for a very short period of time. I have heard tales of lucky people finding them at yard sales, buying them for $5, and selling them for $1200. They are very hard to find, but I keep hoping!
Ah, Breyer horses. I collected them (and lots of them) when I was going through the typical “girl crazy about horses” phase in the mid 70s. Sadly, I only kept a few of them, and gave the rest away.
I would appreciate it! I don’t know why I’m having such a hard time finding pajamas for her, but they all seem to be too small or two piece.
