Hi-Ho Silver, Or Hi-Yo?

It’s interesting to read Rand Brooks’ name in that article. Apparently, from what I’d read, Scarlett O’Hara’s first husband played quite a few Western villains!

You look at that kid stumbling all over Scarlett in the early scenes of GWTW and tell me if you see a villain. Now that’s acting!

I know this thread is a zombie…but I can’t help noting something: Songs like “Hi Ho Silver Lining” (the linked version being the best known one by Jeff Beck, but the original was/is by The Attack) certainly couldn’t have helped the ‘Hi Ho!’ versus ‘Hi Yo!’ confusion.

I know it’s a zombie, but The Lone Ranger airs every day on Cozi TV. I watch it regularly and the Masked Man, whether it’s Clayton Moore or John Hart, always says “Hi-Yo, Silver!” The narrator at the beginning of each episode also repeats, “A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust, and a hearty ‘Hi-Yo, Silver!’ The Lone Ranger.”

For those who have never seen the full-length feature film with Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels, they slept under the stars around a campfire fully clothed: mask, boots, gunbelt, bandana, the whole shmear. And they woke up fresh as a daisy, without needing a morning toilette!

Heck, you don’t even need a TV. Here’s a whole bunch of episodes; you can listen to every one and hear it yourself.

Here’s some amusing “Lone Ranger” trivia: According to John Hart, who played the Lone Ranger in 52 episodes of the series, the Ranger’s horse Silver and Tonto’s horse Scout didn’t like each other.
