# Hiccupping makes my ear hear sounds lower

I just hiccupped while listening to a midi file. For the very brief duration of the hiccup, all of the sound from the midi file sounded to me as though it had slid a half step to a step downwards in pitch.

I guess the motion of my neck muscles during the hic loosened something in my ear canal causing the eardrums to go slack or something.

Weird, I’d never noticed that effect before.

(Mundane? Check.  
Pointless? Check.  
I must share? Apparently so. Check.)
