# Hickory The Dog has learned to Leap into the Jeep!

Jeep XJ on 31’s and about 3" of lift. Dixie, Trixie and Teddy can usually all jump in the back door from level ground, with an occasional struggle (The paint in the door jam is worn down to almost bare metal from paws and claws). I have to lift Doxie and Hickory in every day…
Except yesterday! She took a flyer and BANG! Right In Like Flynn! She’s a medium sized Dachshund, but built like a Pulling Guard. Huge feet, big head, barrel-chested, tail as thick as a hotdog and legs like a skier. But she did it, twice. I suspect she could have for quite a while, but just never tried. She is becoming the dominate female, and was always holding up the show by wanting to be first, so would always prevent the other dogs from jumping in, because she would be in the way, bullying her way to the front of the line. This is gonna be an improvement. Plus, I don’t need to bend down to pick her up. And she stinks, so my hands will be cleaner to hold those beers. (Oh, who am I kidding? I pet the hell out of all of them once they are loaded up and ready to go. Just how we are.)
I’m so proud. How is this for Pointless and Mundane?
In other dog news, Teddy ate my wife’s parakeet. Earned him a return to me and his Mom and sisters. He got a clean blanket in his box tonight. That bird kinda sucked anyway.

Please remind me of porous brain, what species of animal is Teddy? And did being returned to you involve a change in houses?

He’s amazing if he can catch a parakeet! But don’t tell wifey I complimented him on his initiative and prowess. I don’t want to spoil my chances with her in case she and I ever get a chance to be friends.

Ted is pretty quick and has an impressive record of kills. But Dixie is the most impressive to me. She catches stuff bigger than her head, and brings them to me instead of scarfing them down and puking later.

She also does this OCD weird thing when I go to let her and the rest out the back door. She’s spins around, always 3 times, and always clockwise. After the third spin, she jumps up on her hind legs like she is reaching for the door knob. Of course, Teddy is right next to her, bouncing like a pogo-stick.
