> I have done this many times, often with small hand tools. I put them away someplace just to keep them from getting lost, except I won’t remember what that is when I need the tool and then I have to get another one. After using it I’ll find a really good place to keep it that I’ll definitely remember next time, and of course that’s where I’ll find the first one. I have a nice collection of duplicate tools now.

Karnak says “Who doesn’t own a toolbox?” 😉

Back when I smoked tobacco, I had a daily limit and wasn’t allowed to open a new pack when I already had an open pack. I always worked at least half an hour drive away from home, so I would ration out my day’s allowance of cigs and hide the rest of them in my desk at work.

This worked to keep me from going over ten cigs a day and had the side benefit of making a mental link between working and smoking tobacco. Once I retired, I smoked all the cigs I had left and never wanted another one.
