I’ve lived near Boise, Idaho for all my life. On December 22, 1990 it got down to -25° F. I worked at Burger King at the time and I was working the drive-thru window that evening. When I left my hands were completely numb. To make matters worse the heater quit in my car. Fortunately I had a heavy jacket to keep warm until I got home.
I’m sure at some point that previous summer we had a few days above 100 degrees, so I’ll just stick to that and score myself 125 for that year.
-72F, without windchill, in January 1977 (or was it '78? I’m getting old…) to a sweltering high of +90F in July. For a grand score of 162.
For the terminally nit-picky, yes, Mayo, YT holds the Canadian record for the greatest range in absolute temperature - a spread of almost 100 degrees Celsius.
And it’s sogging -32C/-25.6F out there now.
tisiphone! I thought you were gone. Glad to see you’re back, even if you beat my remembered temps.
