Hiking the CA deserts (in search of petroglyphs and other exciting things). Advice? Tips?

They named that road after him when he bought the Bakersfield sign that’s right there. It used to be way over on Union Ave and was falling apart to the point where it was going to just be torn down. Whole city was up in arms. Buck bought it, moved it outside his dining establishment, and restored it. Once he did that, they named the street after him-- that was years ago. Merle just got his street recently, though they basically each have a street on the ends of Oildale- Merle on the North, Buck on the South.

I do now! (Thank you, Googlemaps). Tell me all about it and why I should go immediately, please :).

Yum yum. And they sell that ice cream at Disneyland! The more you know and all that jazz.

It’s not desert, but one of these days you really need to take a trip up California highway 49 through the gold rush country. The scenery is spectacular.

That is most definitely on my TO DO list! I’m a big old history nerd and can you believe I’ve never even been to Sutter’s Fort?

Funny enough though, just today I was looking up all the amazing ghost towns up that way. Sooo much amazingness to explore! Any particular places you’re fond of?
