A super interesting read about how the Hillary campaign shifted starting in May to appeal more to moderate Republicans, after previously tarring Republicans in general as having created Trump, and now reaping the whirlwind: [How A Decision In May Changed The General Election](https://www.buzzfeed.com/rubycramer/how-a-decision-in-may-changed-the-general-election?bffbpolitics&utm_term=.tuKNNx9er#.afgaaJXep) I can see how this could be frustrating for some at the DNC who wanted to really bury the GOP brand and help downballot races. But endorsements like that Cincinnati Enquirer one probably wouldn’t have happened if she kept on that tack, and who knows how many moderate, Main Street type Republicans would have been pushed into Trump’s arms. What actually frustrates me the most is learning that their research showed that calling Trump a failed businessman was not working because people just weren’t buying it, so instead they shifted to the Romney approach of saying his alleged success was built on screwing the little guy. If that’s what the research shows, then fine: I guess it’s what they’ve got to do. But even leaving aside political advantage, I sure wish the other approach (which is true!) were viable, because I just really want to have Trump’s most important possession (the image of success) taken away from him. ---

I couldn’t agree more. I keep hoping to see TV ads showing the ordinary-Joe small business people whom Trump has screwed over the years, sadly and heart-rendingly talking right into the camera about what a jerk and ripoff artist he is. That could move the polls even more in Hillary’s direction. ---

Re: Tonight’s debate. Part of me wouldn’t begrudge Hillary if she came out with “All right, motherfuckers-- eight years ago? I get it. Barack Obama was awesome. Inspirational, amazing campaigner, and he’s gotten shit done in the time since. Pretty great guy all-around. But fucking-a, people. Donald Fucking Trump? A bigoted conman ballbag with no real policies to speak of? Are you really putting this mook a cunt-hair away from Oval Office? _Really?!_ How is this even a motherfuckin’ race? I mean, _really_. The guy IS rich and famous, calling him a failed businessman was never going to work. As far as most of America is concerned he has reached the pinnacle of success. Showing how he got there by screwing the little guy is much more effective than trying to convince people that a guy that is basically a caricature of a rich guy is actually a failure. ---
