> I’m sorry but some of the things you say you think are so silly, I assume they are rhetorical devices. I mean you really think there is some possible Bernie supporters out there who are so mad at Hillary, they’re going to get off their ass on election day just to prove her wrong? When she isn’t even running? People like that only exist in movies as a plot device, at least in any number to be measured.

I’m just talking about moving the needle - someone might feel a little more in one direction than they did before. Small effects can still be real. And that’s what I suspect. But who knows? Maybe it won’t do anything at all. Maybe it will hurt Bernie. We’ll see.

Is it Bernie Sanders’ fault that Hillary Clinton was weak? I mean there were other candidates who ran, too: O’Malley and Webb. Everyone assumed that Sanders’ ideas were so far out of the mainstream that he had no chance. I am far from being a Bernie Bro but for a first-time candidate going up against a household name, he ran an effective campaign by any metric.

Honestly I kinda think they’re pretty much the only ones who care what she thinks.

I’m no Sanders fan and really liked Clinton. She won the nom fairly and would have been a great president. Sanders did IMHO harm her. But she has no special insight or intelligence about this subject. Her comments tell more about the distortions of her lens than anything else and interest few other than those who get upset (Sanders supporters) or those who want to stir upset (media for clicks). She is just another empty pontificating talking head. No more.

OK, a fair point. Obama got a lot of good press from his 2004 DNC speech. But I’d be surprised if more than 25% of the electorate had any idea who he was two years before he was elected, and for Clinton and Sanders I doubt they were in double digits; Governor of Arkansas isn’t exactly a high profile position. Still, no question it beats Mayor of South Bend.

So if we’re looking for near-total unknowns to compare Buttigieg to…even just from last election cycle, I don’t see how he’s surpassed Carly Fiorina or Ben Carson yet. At least they each led their party’s polls for a minute or two. Or how about Andrew Yang? He’s doing a little more than half as well as Buttigieg. If Buttigieg is running The Most Amazing Campaign In The Modern Political Era, surely Yang’s must rank as at least One Of The More Amazing Campaigns, right? I just must have missed all the threads where you were gushing about Yang’s incredible political talents.

As DSeid more or less said above, anyone who really cares about what Hillary has to say about Bernie has already picked a camp.

I don’t care what you say, when she announced her DNA results with “pay up on your bet, Trump!”, she was the douche. I knew right then, she should stick to her safe seat.

IIRC she even has less ‘native’ DNA than the average white person.

Christ, what a friggin train wreck.

This feels like Hillarys emails all over again.

One candidate is dangerously incompetent, commits treason, rapes children, is a criminal, highly corrupt, lies thousands of times a year, encourages peoples racism and bigotry.

The other one deleted some emails

In the eyes of the media and pundit class, both are equally bad scandals.

Sounds like people are trying to make the same argument with Warren. Her using her 0.1% indian DNA on some forms is the same thing as Trump committing treason and raping children.

Its an absurd argument.

Does that extend to Warren beclowning herself by touting the infamous DNA test results as though they were worth a shit, despite their showing her nearest Native ancestor was literally a great-great-great-great-great-great grandparent? Because if so, I agree.

Read the Intercept article asahi linked to. It clearly explains why Warren’s lies about her race matter, and why they’re a pretty damning indictment of her character. [Here’s](https://www.currentaffairs.org/2019/10/why-criticize-warren) a good article from Current Affairs which makes the same (and other) points.

That’s bullshit.

Look, I voted for her in the general election (although not in the primary). I am nonetheless able to accept the fact that she lost.

We elect our president by way of a peculiar and archaic process. But the rules are known to everyone, and the same for everyone, and Clinton had a (presumably) capable and well-funded staff, more than competent to run the numbers and allocate campaign resources (including time in-state on the part of Clinton herself) where needed.

She fucked up. She lost to possibly the worst presidential candidate in my lifetime. Well, except for George Wallace, maybe.

And it wasn’t Sanders’ fault. It was her own fault.

She lost the election.

> Sanders did come out of nowhere and win 43% of the vote. Granted not a majority and him not winning a majority of delegates is why he lost. But there is a trendline of the democratic party becoming more progressive and grassroots.

I tend to agree. I think the country as a whole is moving to the left.

It amazes me that the Republican Party doesn’t see that. Okay, I can accept that they’re not going to jump over to the left. But why aren’t they shifting back towards the center?

Because they’re clearly not. Every Republican candidate insists on making it clear that he is not only a conservative but he’s the most conservative.

The result has been that Republican candidates have lost the popular vote in six of the last seven presidential elections. Their base is disappearing and there’s a limit to how much you can cover for that with various shenanigans.

Isn’t that largely a function of gerrymandering? Republicans in gerrymandered districts are really only susceptible to attacks from their right, so they’ve no incentive to move towards the middle.

Don’t you remember the great PUMA BernieBro backlash of 2016? Quite petty of Sanders’ supporters to drag the party through that for months but then again Bernie himself was always the scumbag dirty fighter, like when his team shared photos of Clinton wearing “Muslim garb.”

Politics is a rough game. It’s a competition and only one person wins it.

Did Clinton and Warren put some hard hits on Sanders this week? Yes, they did.

But if Sanders can’t take a shot and recover, we should know that now before we select a nominee. Because you can count on the fact that whatever hits Sanders has taken so far will be nothing compared to what the Republicans will throw at him if he gets nominated.

As I wrote above, I think Sanders handled it well.

Bill Clinton was well known? Not really. Maybe in the Arkansas area, but not in the North at all.

Seriously, that is a very odd statement. Obama had a lot of buzz building off speeches he made. Bill Clinton was a Governor of a minor state.
