How does one make the transition from Hip Hop star to power broker? How did Jay Z do it? Did he take a night course? How big is these guy’s piece of the pie? I am thinking about making the transition.

I recommend reading The Big Payback: The History of the Business of Hip-Hop by Dan Charnas. It’s a great look at the evolution of the hip hop music business, emphasizing the business side of things, not the music side.
