"Historical Epic" Rock Songs

Cold Missouri Waters about the 1949 Mann Gulch fire.

I don’t know why someone hasn’t set “The Tay Bridge Disaster” to music yet. It’d make a rocking song!

The Eagles’ album “Desperado” is based (if loosely) on the Dalton Gang, or perhaps the old west in general.

If entire albums don’t count, the opening track is titled “Doolin-Dalton,” and another is “Bitter Creek,” possibly in reference to George “Bitter Creek” Newcomb, another member of the Dalton Gang, although if my memory serves the song is more geographical in nature.

“Boom Boom Mancini” by Warren Zevon

And the entire album Ghosts of the Great Highway is boxer-reference heavy, with one song somewhat about him and Duk Koo Kim, whom he accidentally killed.

That song categorically is not about the Troubles in Northern Ireland. It was written for/about Brendan and Dominic Behan’s dad. More info.

The Talking Heads Life During Wartime is about the RAF and various other urban guerrilla groups active at that time.

The Titus Andronicus album “The Monitor” is Civil-War themed.
