Hitchbot is ugly, cloying, and annoying. For a brief, shining moment, I was proud of my countrymen for destroying it. Now we find that the destruction wasn’t an old-fashioned mugging at all, but rather a badly acted, badly staged piece of _performance art_, tweeted out by some pretentious arty-farty douchebag with arms covered with tattoos (excuse me, _body art_) and a YouTube handle of “Always Teste”. God help us. We can’t even stomp a robot any more without being hipster douches. We are doomed. ---
