I lied to myself; I do want to post again over this matter. I was right on every topic you wish to mention. Be it Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Egypt and now, Ukraine. [**Russia has invaded Ukraine. How will the West respond?**](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=717050) A thread full of misinformation and open Russophobia. Opening old wounds it seems. [**Soviet Union 51–50 United States**](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basketball_at_the_1972_Summer_Olympics) But if a brash opposition, rash as it may be, (not here to be liked. said that much from day one), makes me a “jerk”, hey, it’s your call. I might just be be too much heat for this particular “kitchen.” Even if what I do is “fight ignorance” – as proven over and over again. Meanwhile, I’ll still call them as I see them. And my record is my cite that I do it quite well. Kind regards. ---

I…think…this comes from me giving RedFury a warning for insulting other posters and mentioning that he should try to be more polite. Seems an odd reaction, though. And I’m not at all sure what the basketball thing has to do with it. ---

No particular siginificance attached other then the bad blood that went on for all of the cold war and whenever the US and the USSR would quarrel about _anything_…as insignificant, in the greater scope of things, as an Olympic Basketball Final. The left overs seem clear to me. ETA: trust that makes the (obscure?) reference clearer. In that vein, you could also bring-up the US’s victory at Lake Placid ever. And it went way beyond sports for BOTH nations. Clearer? ---

And FTR I don’t consider myself exactly a dove on this issue, by US standards. Given that and speaking generally, insults in GD are kinda self indulgent, ya? ---

I’ll confess I haven’t read the full thread, but I really haven’t seen any “Russophobia” in the thread unless one wants to really, really stretch the term to where it’s meaningless unless you want to count people making nasty statements about Putin. The US blamed the 72 loss on what they believed was, rightly or wrongly, horrible officiating while the USSR blamed the latter loss on the coach pulling Tretiak, quite possibly the greatest goalie to ever lace up skates. You’d be better off pointing to the recent victory of the US over Russia in the 2014 Olympics(though I think reasonable people would agree that people could make a stronger case for poor officiating in 72). ---

Please read all the exposed MSN links. I.E. the "Jews made been to sign a US$50.00 tax for remining in East Ukraine. Except not much was said by your MSM when it turned out to be plain bullshit. If the OP has a specific complaint about a warning or the administration of this message board, he may start a new thread on that subject, with a link to the appropriate posts. Otherwise this thread appears to be an attempt to start a political debate in an inappropriate forum. Such debates are better carried out in appropriate threads in the Great Debates forum. This one is closed as being inappropriate for ATMB, and redundant for Great Debates.
