Hobbit Movies info

The Narnia movies seemed to lack the depth that the LOTR films did. This extends to the settings, as Tanbarkie perfectly illustrated. In Narnia I thought it was all plastic and facade and couldn’t get into the plot as a result (even tho I liked the kids, Ms. Henley in particular).

Hey! Didn’t you just insult me?!?!?! I’d complain to a mod if it weren’t for the 9,000 or so posts supporting the thesis that I am immature.

I didn’t say that YOU shouldn’t watch movies based on books you love, Dex. I said that I shouldn’t.

Apart from the fact that I like books far more than movies, there’s the fact that, in the books I love, the things I love best are the things that don’t translate well to screen, if at all, and probably shouldn’t try. I enjoy the pictures in my imagination much more than the director’s vision, and I have a much harder time losing myself in a fictional screen world than in a fictional text one.

Anyway, I don’t object to movie adaptations of books I love. I just don’t watch them.

Those are “Ooky” things, right?

Lawsuit settled; the Hobbit movies are good to go: Dotdash Meredith - America's Largest Digital & Print Publisher

Have they cast Bladorthin yet? How about Pryftan? Medwed?

Just a rumor, but through the miracle of splitscreen, I hear Yahoo Serious has been cast in all three roles.

Nothing has been cast as far as I know (with the exception of a few of the returning characters). If I recall an interview w/ Peter Jackson I heard a few weeks or so ago, he was planning at that time to hand in a first draft of the script at which point the studio will officially greenlight the movie (it’s pretty much a technicality but on the off chance PJ hands in a turd it protects them). When the movie is greenlit, then they will start casting. Until that point, any rumour you hear is pretty much baseless.

That said, I love the idea of James McAvoy playing Bilbo. My fingers are crossed.

Heading slightily OT, But I’d put James Earl Jones ahead of Freeman.
