Hmm… Looks like the eye is already reforming. The south west is still pretty torn up though.
Bruce_Daddy, confused about which Isabel thread to post in.

Max sustained winds are down to 105 mph; it’s now down to a Cat 2. Yea!
Back up to 110MPH this morning.
Metro has indicated they will suspend all bus operations and close above-ground stations if sustained winds in the metro area exceed 40MPH.
Just got an update from our local weather bureau that damaging winds should arrive between noon and 2PM tomorrow.
Hide the children and lawn furniture!
Southwest is allowing those of us with reservations thru the 18th to rebook without penalty. Yay! Now I need to decide if I’ll go up late this weekend and come back on Tues or leave on Weds and stay thru next weekend. Wish my sweetie would call so I could get his opinion.
National is already reporting sustained winds at 12MPH. NOVA-Alexandria had a gust at 22.
Sounds like DC-area Goverment offices will be closed tomorrow. I certainly hope so.
Our company follows the government’s lead, so no work tomorrow for me.
Not I. As a ‘responsible director’ I’ll be there tomorrow and Friday.
Hell, Friday I’ll bring the new mail server online. Wish me luck.
Since I’m a gummint bureaucrat, I get the day off. W00t!!
For Floyd, all we got was unscheduled leave, and (on my side of the area, at least) Isabel appears less intimidating than Floyd. So I figured that’s all we’d get tomorrow or Friday.
I’ve long been convinced that the people who decide whether the government’s open live west of the city.
But free day off! Yippee!!
Metro is shut down too tomorrow. So even if your office isn’t closed tomorrow, if you take public transportation you can get to work but you can’t get home.
I’m just gonna sit on my couch and watch the fun from my window. Hurricane party at my bf’s workplace!
Has day off anyway but won’t be enjoying it. Sigh. Damn cab driver.
You can get home as long as you leave the office by 11 am.
Cool! It’ll be great sleeping late tomorrow. I’m so sore, I just spent about an hour cleaning off my balcony. Helluva way to get me to clean up, huh? Well, I’m as prepared as I’m gonna be. Good luck everyone.
So here I am at work…a ‘responsible agent’. And the owner just called in to shut us down.
It’s kinda cool–my mom came out for a business thing that is this time of year every year–which she makes a point to attend, because it gets her a business trip timed around Dominic’s birthday–but it’s been cancelled. She also came last night instead of this afternoon so she could beat Isabel.
Well, her meeting was cancelled, and Dominic has no school, so she gets to spend a bunch of extra time with Dominic! Nifty, eh?
I’m sitting at home (picked a great time to take vacation ) waiting for the storm. Since I’m in Baltimore, it’s supposed to be better here than it would be at work near DC. I volunteered to give up my vacation, but my manager said to enjoy my time off. Now I hear the guys at work are going nuts preparing for the storm.
I do have my digital camera with me, so if I get any severe weather than I can photograph I’ll post the shots.
Yeah, we’ll do that, too.
With any luck y’all won’t see pix of trees falling on our house.
That would impact Dope-A-Ween significantly.
It just started raining here on Capitol Hill - one of the bands of early stuff they were warning about. The construction crew across the street JUST NOW decided it would be a good idea to have their hanging window-painting platform under cover, and the poor guys trying to manoever it are swinging like fish on a hook.
I’m stuck in the house for 2 days with a 5-year-old boy. If the tv goes out, I’m doomed…
Jonathan C, you be careful. I see they’re predicting possibly 10 inches of rain in your neck of the woods. Flash floods are not pretty. I hope your house is up high, and that you stay off the road.
What a drag, JC - that’s a long way to drive in, just to be told to turn around and go home.
Who_me?, I wouldn’t be worried about JC’s house; it seems well-situated to not be flooded. (It’s a very old house, and if it were prone to flooding, it probably wouldn’t even be there by now. Heck, come to Dope-A-Ween and see for yourself. :))
But the ‘stay off the road’ advisory is a good one everywhere, once the wind and rains get heavy. And if streams decide to flow across roads, don’t drive through them!

carimwc - you live in Del Ray, as in the north end of Alexandria? My wife and I are over thataway regularly because that’s where some of our favorite restaurants are. Have you ever tried the chocolate tequila sorbet at Taqueria Poblano? I think it’s my favorite dessert ever. They don’t skimp on the tequila, either. :):)
