Hollywood Nepotism -- Let's Make a List

They were related?

Er…in my last one Justin s/h/b Justine.

Elisabeth Shue <> Andrew Shue

And btw, whoever posted Robert Alda --> Alan Alda, you left out Anthony Alda.

::ignoring the “nepotism” clarification::

And there’s sister Rain as well.

It’s “Mira.” And add Tatum O’Neil to that list for her Oscar win in “Paper Moon.”

And Eve, I am surprised you didn’t mention Charlie Chaplin and Mildred Harris and Charlie Chaplin and Lita Grey and Charlie Chaplin and Paulette Goddard.

Oh, and then there’s Mary Jo Slater - a casting director - who just happened to have the perfect kids available for any part…Christian and Helen.

To me, this just highlights the evils of nepotism. There are literally thousands of actors out there who could have performed just as well in the roles for which these stars were nominated. But of course, they never get the chance, because they don’t have the connections to get their careers off the ground.

That is not to say that no one ever makes it on talent alone (they do, of course), or that the listed actors don’t have talent (they do). It’s just that there are a lot of talented actors out there who don’t get a shot at the big time because they don’t have the right family connections, or don’t know the right people.

…Hey, if I were the scion of a Hollywood star, I bet I would have my Oscar up on the mantle by now, too! :cool:

Jim Hutton --> Timothy Hutton

–In France I’m considered a genius.

Tom Hanks --> Colin Hanks (son - regular on “Roswell”)

Somebody listed Margeaux and Mariel Hemingway, but forgot to mention the REALLY famous one who is the reason they got famous…Ernest.

And Spoke, you said Eddie Fisher --> Carrie Fisher.

I believe her mom was Debbie Reynolds.

There is one safeguard known generally to the wise, which is an advantage and security to all,
but especially to democracies as against despots. What is it? Distrust.
