37 people on the bus with him, and he only killed one? A tragedy, yes; but damn, it could have been worse. Crazy guys armed with knives seem a lot less efficient. If he hadn’t gone that extra mile to behead his victim, would we even be hearing about this? ---

Just think of riding a bus from Edmonton to Winnipeg in July. It’s surprising there aren’t _more_ major freakouts on the Greyhounds. ---

What do they mean, allegedly? The man was holding up the victim’s head! Did the head just separate from the body spontaneously? Whom do they think beheaded the guy–another maniac killer on the bus? The driver? The last one in the queue for the toilet? WTF? Poor guy (the victim). Ghastly. ---

Holy crap is right! Wow. I take Greyhound buses relatively regularly, and although I’ve met some crazy characters, they have all proven to be pretty benign. But that guy - jeez. ---

The talk now is of increased security for Greyhound. I don’t know about that - yeah, it’s probably a good idea to keep machetes off the bus, but I don’t know about the logistics of this idea. ---

I read teh story when I got to work this moring. Whatthefuck? The other passengers slammed the bus door closed and all held it closed, the guy walked up with the victims head, dropped it, then decided to go back and keep gutting the guy. Killer was 6’ and 200 lbs with a shaved head and was CALM the whole time he was carving up the guy! Sweet Jeebus! It’s like some f\*\*ked up character form Full Metal Jacket or Jacob’s Ladder was just sitting quietly at the back and went all Hollywood-can’t-_possibly-_-be-real-life psycho on the kid next to him. ---

If a news outlet asserts as fact something about a person that later turns out to be untrue, the news outlet is on the hook for defamation. So even in cases as clear-cut (sorry) as this, news outlets are still going to say “allegedly” to CYA legally. ---

Honestly, I love Canadians and consider Canada my second homeland, but there is such a thing as _Canada Nice._ I define it this way: You’re on a very hot bus from Vancouver to the BC Ferry terminal. The driver is nice enough to offer to turn up the air conditioning — _and the passengers are nice enough not to ask him to._ At least we have the peace of mind that if we ever find ourselves on a Greyhound through Canada and _have_ to stab someone slowly to death, the other passengers won’t interfere. I don’t know whether Canada Nice applies outside of buses. I hope not. ---
