I forgot to tape the Andy Roddick episode. Was the Weekend Update segment really that much better than the rest of the stuff? Most of the ones I’ve seen since the season debut have seemed weak and padded.

I agree the Kelly Ripa one was mostly bad, at least she tried, the writing was lousy. Lorne Michaels must be losing it to Fallon and Sanz ramble on, as well as crack up yet again on purpose with that stupid Jimmy Buffett segment during Weekend Update. The whole thing felt forced and tedious. Did they steal the cow farts sketch from _The Man Show_’s reject pile?

But it had more going for it than the Halle Berry episode. Sad to say but she has no gift for comedy, on top of the weak writing. Her Naomi Campbell (mostly the poor effort at a British accent) during the tired Donatella Versace sketch seemed like she wasn’t even in the same scene. But the even worse “ghetto girls” in the Asian restaurant sketch seemed like a rough draft for a scene from _B.A.P.S 2_. I’d hate to see what wasn’t considered good enough or ready for air for this one to make it on.

I guess the Justin Timberlake episode was a fluke, what a shame.

I was pleasantly surprised by Kelly Ripa. She isn’t remotely the slightly older version of Jessica Simspon I had written her off as.

The send-up of her hair product commercials (made with real crack cociane!) was hilarious.
