They’re saying “Hey, your handicap isn’t real. Look, I can make it come and go.” They cheapen the respect we give to the handicapped by making the injury ubiquitous. Wouldn’t you resent anyone that went around pretending to be a war vet or that wrongly tried to collect on disability? ---

Sorry, didn’t mean to make hay. I’m just saying he/she’s being disingenous with our emotions. It doesn’t have to be financial for it to be offensive. I recently put an attic fan on a friend’s garage since he’s in a wheelchair. Had I discovered later it was a ploy, I’d have had the right to be upset. Whatever this person is trying to gain through deception, whether it just be sympathy or something more tangible, it’s wrong. It cheapens the plight and difficulties the legitimately handicapped must endure. ---

Ol’ Vicky/Ricky is limiting both her options and market. Anyone with the knowledge of employing expoitive business practices would recommend a pair of sunglasses and a seeing eye dog. This way you could corner the **cross-dressing** , the **apotemnophila** and the **bestiality** markets with little or no additional overhead. ---

Oh, and I make jokes about being Obsessive Compulsive and Attention Deficit all the time. I don’t get offended when people make jokes about them. What pisses me off is when people try to tell me these disorders don’t exist, that they’re all in my head and I’m faking it. THAT pisses me off-not black humor. ---

I hope the hell Vicki (and others like her) don’t take up handicapped spaces. That would be lower than low. And I definitely think it’s all about attention. There’s a great interview on NPR’s website with Amy Sedaris (from “Strangers with Candy”) where she tells about a time when she was being photographed for People magazine. She decided to have a make-up artist do her face to look like she’s been beaten up. She was working as a waitress at the time and kept the make-up on for work since she had spent so much on it. She said she really enjoyed the attention and in a weird way felt beautiful. People were looking at her with sympathy and treated her differently than they normally did. Nicer, I guess. Luckily she only did this for a day and went back to normal once her bruises washed off. I imagine people like Vicki are hooked on that feeling of being seen as special or different in some way. I’m sure people treat her much more kindly when she’s in braces than when she’s just walking around normally. It’s very sad to me that she is so in need of attention. She must feel very empty to have to pretend like that. By the way **Klaatu** , as an amputee, how do you feel about people with this kind of fetish? Does it creep you out, piss you off, amuse, annoy? ---

“some of my best friends” is in general a lame justification. You can have friends who do things you don’t like. His being gay actually hurts his justification because he is much more likely to be around people who do drag wether he likes it or not. And drag has very little to do with the person on that website. ---
