That gingerbread cake? I have declared it Divine, especially with whipped cream on top. (Mine came from a store! That recipe got a little too adventurous for me at the end.) It’s very spicy. If you don’t like too much spice I recommend leaving out the candied ginger. If you’re like me and love the ginger, pour it on! Tomorrow’s my long day. 8 am - 10 pm in the Halls of Academe. I had my practicum today and it was ok. I had some fun, but it was also kinda long. I am helping my site supervisor in revamping the list of African-American authors on shelf at the library (it’s a handy list for patrons who want such a list for…National Black History Month. So, it’s a wash for now, but not awful. I am watching House (of course) and putting the masterbedroom back together–I have thrown out 3 bags of magazines (recycled, I mean). :eek: I would LOVE to live in UK. I would give almost anything to be able to live there for an extended period time–but not in London. I would visit London often, but not live there (waaaaay too expensive). ---

So. There’s this huge, major thing we’re doing at work. 4 of us working on it more or less, oh…a LOT since November. It boils down to: we’re building four new schools here right now, which means we need to set attendance boundaries for them, right? After all, someone has to go to them when they open. So, there’s a lot of number crunching, and scenario-making which we’ve been working with a “citizen’s committee” (and you might think you have an idea how painful that might be well take your imagination and multiply it by infinity) to come to consensus and make some ‘draft recommendations’, which were made public, so that we could hold ‘public forums’. So those were last Tuesday and Wednesday - on two consecutive nights I sat on a high school stage and listened to people moan about what really was a good workable plan. BUT, because we’re public servants and we ‘listen’ to people, we went back to the drawing board for most of Friday, and most of today coming up with something that’s not perfect, admittedly better than what we did first, but which we still have to get to the ‘citizens committee’, and THEN have another public forum. I hate people. If I never look at another map, I’ll be ok with that. Took Scarlett back to Dr. Laura today. She’ll eat some things, if they have a strong smell (like tuna), but is still hiding out a lot. I came home with some prescription food (which she LOVES - yay!!! )and if she isn’t somewhat more personable (or cat-able? ) tomorrow, they wanna look at her overnight, so I’ll take her back in the afternoon. Cuervo and Bear need to get their daily routine together. One wants to play when the other wants to sleep. Except at 4 am when they both want to play ON THE BED. Welcome new folks, one of you want to get up and bring me a beer? Thanks. ---

Holy shit. It’s supposed to get down to -18F tonight. **MamaTigs** has been sick today, apparently – she was this morning – but she’s the one who could probably tell me if this sets a record for me as far as cold goes. I think it might. The freaky part to me isthat it’s like 2F right now and walking to the car and to and from the store and all, and it didn’t really bother me at all. I have a haircut appointment tomorrow, thank Og. My hair was bugging me, but since I’ve made the appointment, it’s been realllllly bugging me. I don’t like it when it gets too far over my ears! I’ve considered growing it long again but don’t feel like going through the awkward stages. I have a coworker who got screwed by his landlord; the pipes in his place broke while he was out of town, and the landlord threw him out without even a day’s notice and wants him to pay for the repairs! And he didn’t have a real lease. I know nothing about the law in those situations but I told him that if the guy comes after him for money it might be a good idea for him to at least talk to a lawyer about what his options are. ---
