> Hey **Taters** , you know what Jif has now? Peanut butter with honey already in it! Think of all the time you’ll be saving with a product like that. “Well, I’d make peanut butter and nanner sammiches, but squirting the honey on takes _so much tiiiiiiiiiime_!” No more! It’s premixed in the peanut butter! Like Goober Grape, only different.

Yeah, but it wouldn’t be the same. You MUST drizzle the honey over the nanners and PB (Jiff-Smoooooth). Otherwise, it just isn’t going to have that same oooey-gooey-drippy kinda goodness. The honey and the PB get all kinda co-mingled and drippy and well, just …good.

My 6-year-old nephew lost his first tooth the other day. He proudly informed me that he’d been allowed to keep the tooth so that he could show it to his best friend at school. This was accomplished by writing a note to the tooth fairy asking her not to take it (didn’t know you could do this…). Of course he then went and misplaced the tooth at school. He didn’t seem too upset about that - more embarrassed than anything (he’d already collected his winnings and shown it to his friend, so there wasn’t much left to do with it, I suppose).

QUESTION: How did I miss the connection between pancake and sausage suppers and Mardi Gras? I don’t remember hearing about this apparent tradition before and suddenly, it’s everywhere (i.e. at **swampy’s** church and at my church).

Piece of flank steak, sliced as thinly as possible, package of frozen “japanese mix” veggies, bottle of PC Szechwan peanut sauce = quick & yummy stir fry. (Worked for me last night.)

Sounds good. Maybe tomorrow. We’re having scalloped potatoes with cheese tonight. Maybe corn, too.

I’ve broken my cuisinart. You know the bit that holds the sclicing blade up? It’s sort of stick shaped, and it cracked while I was slicing potatoes for dinner. I got the slicey-blade-bit off, but the stick-insert-blade-holder-thingy has cracked, and is stuck inside the plastic sleeve in the centre of the food processor bowl.

I\_\_\_I I I\_\_\_I

The middle bit is cracked and stuck inside the bowl (see diagram. The series of "I"s represent the blade holding device). So I can’t get the bowl off because the crack has jammed everything together. I’m going to present this conundrum to Mr. Lissar when he gets back from class. Any suggestions? I would really, _really_ like to have a functional food processor.

The diagram would be multi-level but I can’t figure out how to do it that way.

You’re not going to be able to fix that food processor, kiddo. I know, because I break mine routinely (I use them In A Manner They’re Not Designed To Be Used, thereby Voiding The Warranty.) So whenever I see one on sale, I buy it.

I’m apparently in cooking mode this week. Went grocery shopping today and bought ground beef (for porcupine meatballs), steaks (for steaks), pork tenderloin (for my Not Precisely Pepper Steak on Friday), spaghetti, pork chops and a crock-pottable pork roast for use with sauerkraut and dumplings, if I can find the right dumpling recipe.

My Poppy was a dentist, and he was always trying to pull our teeth when they were loose. He would trick us, and we’d fall for it EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. “I’m just going to wiggle it,” he’d say. “Oooh, it’s very loose. I’m going to pull it, on the count of three, OK? One… \<yank\>! There! That wasn’t so bad, was it?”

(I think this may be my first ever post in a MMP thread. I’ve only recently caught on. Someone make me feel welcome, OK?)

WELCOME TO THE MMP. You’re one of the cool kids now 🙂

I wish I could cook but I have no stove. I don’t have a sink either or cabinets or countertops. I am hoping it will be done before March. Won’t anyone cook for me? I did just order a funky cool stove with not one but two ovens. A big one and a little one. And I got a new microwave with a rack. A metal rack. I’m a little skeptical about that as I’ve seen what happens when you put metal in the microwave but I figure the manufacturers know what they are doing… right? 😕

**LifeOnWry** welcome. I’ve only been posting witrh the cool kids for four weeks now. I’ve always enjoyed your posts in other threads, and I think you’ll fit in well here. Just don’t let anyone talk you into taking achandelier off their hands “for a week or so.”

**AllOfYou** posting things about chicken and dumplings, I need a recipe! The _only_ thing I miss about the ex is her c-n-d recipe. The Factotrix cooks better than anyone I have ever met (including Italian chefs I worked for who couldn’t speak English), but she cannot make a c-n-d that doesn’t turn out to be chicken stew with lumps of dough. Help. please!

**LifeOnWry** , how could you possibly have been around as long as you have, posted as much as you have, and have as cool a name as you have, and never even stumbled in here before? It’s obvious that your invitation was lost in the mail. Just sit anywhere, it’s never formal, and don’t worry that you didn’t bring a covered dish – there’s normally more than enough to go around.

Sweetheart, I DID bring a covered dish. I didn’t fall off the turnip truck, you know. Now… where did I set that?

Oh. Um. **ShibbOleth** , could you lift your left buttcheek up off that sofa for a second?

Well, that’s about as strange a thing to read with one’s name in it as any I can think of. Nice little wake up for the morning.
I think I screwed up by only having my usually coffee and bagel this morning for breakfast. What is this Mardi Gras thing (or Shrove Tuesday) with pancakes? I could still do it for lunch, right? And apparently yesterday was Rosenmontag and I didn’t even realise it until too late!

Welcome to the MMP **LifeOnWry**. In spite of what everyone says, I do not tell everything about my life and bring in waaaaay to much TMI. It’s all just mean gossip about me. Shame on em! BTW, beer and cookies are always appropriate treats to bring. Just wanted to let ya know that.

**’nookie** I want one of those stoves too. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my present stove but I want one of those stoves with the little extra oven. They look so cool. It’d fit just right where my stove is and everything. I want a stainless steel one. I think I want it smooth top too. I think I need to quit looking at appliances in Lowe’s, Home Depot, Sears and everywhere else appliances live while waiting to be sold.

Ok, the Shrove Tuesday (Mardi Gras) sausage and pancake thing came about because the idea of Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) is to rid the house of stuff like meat, fat, sugar, butter and such. So, pancakes and sausages (or bacon if ya like) have become a tradition. The idea being using up the butter, meat, sugar, syrup and stuff that you don’t eat during Lent. Of course, everyone is aware that tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent. So get out there and get to repenting and all that. If I can, I’ll find some stuff about Shrove Tuesday to linky too.

I don’t have much of a recipe, but my wife loves mine.

Boil some chicken, either whole or parts. If you need to, de-bone the chicken, and cut up the meat; return the meat to the pot. Add a can of mixed veggies.

Mix 2 cups of Bisquick with 2/3 cup milk, and stir into a heavy paste. Drop the dough, 1 teaspoonish glob at a time, onto the boiling chicken and veggies, add salt, pepper, and garlic to suit. Let the concoction slow boil 10 minutes uncovered; reduce heat a little, and boil another 10 minutes covered.

BTW, I make better biscuits from scratch, but Bisquick makes great pancakes and chicken dumplings.

A package of those refrigerated flour tortillas also make good dumplings. I cut em in strips and drop em two or three at a time in the boiling chicken broth. Then I put the pot on simmer and add the deboned chicken back to it. If need be, a can of cream of chicken soup can be used to thicken the chicken and dumplings. It’s good!
