Hope I can ask this. It's about pot.

I’m persuaded by weighing the risk factors. I’d love to take it along (stressful trip), and I can’t really buy any there (or wouldn’t). Almost the whole tiny town is related to me. Regardless, I’d be kicking myself for the rest of my life over a little bud.

Thanks for the civil, helpful responses. I’ll just get some nice wine at my destination.

Most of the regular vacation spots I go, I have a regular hookup that takes care of me on day one. That said, I have flown with my stuff in checked baggage and have never had a problem (details in a PM to OP). Many of my friends use tape to secure an eighth to their high inner thigh.

On a trip with friends to a Blues Concert in Florida, everyone talked about “bringing some”. I decided to get some at the event, the acquisition being part of the fun. My one buddy Gilbert went all old school, and brought his internally, IYKWIM. We got to our motel and Gil found out he over killed. Nobody wanted to share Gil’s treasure.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to come off as a dick about it, but despite the prevalence of readily available marijuana, well established medicinal uses, and the lack of substantive harm it seems to cause relative to other legally obtainable substances (alcohol, tobacco, Taco Bell) I routinely hear about people being arrested and charged with multiple counts of various associated crimes and aggravating conditions (e.g. carrying near a school, having property seized et cetera) for even small, non-distribution quantities. And this isn’t an issue that is a particular hot topic for me or that I follow regularly in the news unlike encryption regulations, ballistic missile defense, planetary science, or Rebecca Hall’s current availability.

Not being a pot user (could never stand the smell and would jeopardize my employment) I may be obtuse, but from my casual observation it seems like something that is readily acquired pretty much anywhere with minimal effort, non?

I’m not being judgmental. I don’t care if people smoke pot and don’t see anything wrong with it becoming legal. But to think you can bring some on a plane without even encountering some small risk strikes me as being somewhat naive.

I’ve done it before and gotten away with it, but it was dumb and I would not take that risk again.

Airlines are Federal so I never bring weed on a plane. When my airline trips are for business, I don’t partake. More often I am traveling to see a jam band show somewhere and I’m pretty well connected in the scene so I’ll usually have a local hookup or just get smoked out by the people around me at the show.

I really find it hard to believe that an adult in this day and age is actually seriously asking if it’s OK to bring pot on an airplane.

Yes, it’s illegal, so I’m going to close this down.
