There was a funny spoof of this tendency in Monk earlier this season. When Monk’s nurse spotted an actor on an airplane and oozed, “He used to be on that show Wings!” Monk mumbled “Never heard of it.”
Of course, Tony Shalhoub, the actor who plays Monk, also starred in Wings.
One when Roseanne and Jackie were in a supermarket, they discussed the woman that was in “all the supermarket tabloids this week” cause she put a “voodoo curse on her ex.”
Not quite the same, but there was once a hilarious episode on MWC where people kept chasing Jefferson cause they thought he was “that guy from Happy Days” and “the photographer from the Love Boat.”

Corbin Bernsen and George Wendt on the Tonight Show, plus George Costanza wanting “Ted Danson money,” all in the same Seinfeld episode. Top that.
