I must admit I didn’t see this one coming. Looks like it’s going to be a mess. I am sad because of the increased danger it’s going to create for Muslim Americans across the country. ---

While both MSNBC and Fox News are reporting the Aafia Siddiqui connection, CNN has, AFAICT, avoided it, saying only that the FBI is involved. I don’t know if CNN can’t verify the connection through its own sources, or if it is deliberately withholding it for another reason. ---

From the first of the OP linked articles, it appears that he may not be Siddiqui’s brother. > Multiple people heard the hostage-taker refer to Siddiqui as his “sister” on the livestream, but Faizan Syed, the executive director of Council on American-Islamic Relations in Dallas Fort-Worth Texas, told The Associated Press that Siddiqui’s brother, Mohammad Siddiqui, was not involved. Syed said CAIR’s support and prayers were with the people being held in the synagogue. Also, the first report I saw, from the Washington Post, said he claimed to have a bomb. ---

I have read that she is NOT his sister (as in sibling). He seems to be calling her “sister” as in being a comrade. ---
