# hot dogs

Why DON’T they sell them 10 to a pack to match the bun packages??

I don’t know about you, but I buy buns in packages of 8, just like hotdogs. Ms. Baird’s brand.

Covered by Cecil, search the archives. The gist of it is, meat packers traditionally pack by weight (hot dogs being 10 to the pound), while buns are packed by what makes a good shape for shelves and such (for some reason, this works out to two levels of four buns).

Don’t mean to hijack your post, but I’ve heard of this hot dog/bun mismatch before, but I’ve always gotten both hot dogs and buns 8 to a pack and have never seen it, myself. Is this a regional thing?
