Watching the movie with the commentary track and/or the ‘trivia track’ is a real eye-opener.

The twins who work the front desk, one shabby one neat, are reading books by the same author but written under different names.

All the people in the village have ‘tradesmen names’ (or some term like that) to indicate a pure bloodline in the village.

In this film they ate Cornettos, like in Shaun of the Dead but in Shaun they ate Red ones and in this film, because they were police, they ate the blue ones.

When they spoke to real policemen about movies, the police said how the movies never dramatize the paperwork, so they did so in this film.
I wildly adore the relationship between Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, both in Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.

Then you definitely want to see _Spaced_ if you haven’t yet.

Just noticed on IMDB that Edward Woodward (_The Wicker Man, Breaker Morant, The Equalizer_) played Tom Weaver. Which character was that? I don’t remember him.

Tom Weaver is the one who shot Danny and blows up at the end. Right after he repeats his last words from **The Wickerman**

“Oh God, no.”

It’s doubly clever because, of course, Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg were very much inspired by **The Wickerman** and **Straw Dogs**. (Mr. Treacher was named after the novel **Straw Dogs** was based on).

If you love the Simon/Nick relationship, do check out **Spaced**.

Daisy: Your boyfriend is on the phone.
Tim: He’s not my boyfriend! Hey, babe.

Simon Pegg also regularly refers to Nick Frost as his wife, and once said they were “frustrated heterosexuals.” I find them too adorable for words.

Did you notice in the Crown when Angel and Danny dive in, guns blazing, the Specials board says “2 Shooters For 1”? Edgar and Simon are the undisputed Kings of the Geeks, as far as I’m concerned.

IMO, Timothy Dalton made this movie. Every thing that came out of his mouth required me to back up on my DVR b/c I missed half of it while laughing.

“I think you’ll find me a slasher. Of prices!”

Phuuuuut! Jog on!
Is that really offensive? Would that be an equivalent to the middle finger in the States?
I asked a buddy of mine from the UK about that one. He said that during some war (it’s been awhile I don’t remember all the details) between the English and French, the archers were highly valued. If an archer were taken prisoner, their index and middle finger were chopped off so that they could no longer shoot a bow.

Therefore, at the beginning of a battle, the English archers would give the backwards peace sign to the French as to say “look! I still got mine.”, and is roughly equivalent to the American middle finger.

I just thought that was pretty interesting and wanted to share. Oh, and as soon as I saw the preview for Hot Fuzz I knew I had to see it. It’s hilarious, I bought it the day it came out on DVD.

The OP’s [_Only Fools and Horses_ moment](http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=_IBgk05iL3Y), for those wondering. Sometimes cited as the single funniest moment in a British sitcom.
It’s wonderful and quick, but not as good as the aforementioned OFAH chandelier [scene](http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=pNROPqoEZQI), which just builds up to the classic end.

Oh Pluck Yew\* party pooper! Of course, that does say that medevial archers weren’t the origion of the middle finger and “Fuck You”, it doesn’t say anything about the two fingers and the “Phuuuut! Jog on!”. I’m sticking to my story since it’s more fun that not sticking to it.

[sub]\*merely a joke about the snopes article. I’m not seriously throwing insults in Cafe Society. [/sub]
