I now have the book in hand. I was slightly incorrect - the summary is on the inside front flap. It says: “In the zoo there are all kinds of animal familes. But Tango’s family is not like any of the others.” Back cover has quotes from reviewers: “A touching and delightful variation on a major theme.” – Maurice Sendak “This wonderful story of devotion is heartwarming proof that Mother Nature knows best.” – Harvey Fierstein “Charming! _And Tango Makes Three_ proves that all kinds of love can create a family.” – Wendy Wasserstein “A little miracle for children. Funny, tender, and true, the story of Tango will delight young readers and open their minds.” – John Lithgow. So plenty of hints, but nothing that comes out and states the central theme of the book. Roy and Silo don’t make an appearance until page 7. FWIW, I’ll offer to read it to my 4 year old again this weekend. She may turn it down though - she has little patience with books she’s already seen. ---

I remembered copy somewhere on the book that basically used code words like “non-traditional family” and its very clear in code that this book is about Hot Gay Penguin Sex (Harvey Fierstein “mother nature knows best” yeah). ---
