Indeed. In the 2021 election, the federal Liberals _gained_ 5 seats And no, the federal Liberals did not win the popular vote. We have a number of federal parties. The last time a federal government in Canada won the popular vote was (checks notes) the 1984 Mulroney government. Almost 40 years ago. Edit: To find the next popular vote win, one has to go back to 1958 and John Diefenbaker So this “oh oh, Trudeau did not win the popular vote” really does not hold much water . ---

A lot of voters in troubled times are reassured and inspired by exhortations to “just throw out those cosmopolitan egghead elitists and put us regular folks in charge, and we’ll return you to the good old days”, but that says more about their sentimental delusions than their realistic judgement. ---

Yeah. My point was two-fold. 1. Sometimes regular posters try to do indentation by spaces and are mystified by what happens. If somebody reads this they may avoid making that mistake in the future. 2. When we see an OP containing that format, we can safely assume it was C&Ped from somewhere. Which is useful context to have when interpreting the OP’s remarks, intent, and sincerity. ---
