There are lots of female stars of the 20s, 30s, and 40s that I have never found attractive: Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, and Betty Grable, for instance, never did much for me. But there are a few I have always found very hot. The other night I watched _Duck Soup_ and _Horse Feathers_ for roughly the millionth time, but the first time in maybe a decade or more. I had forgotten what a babe [Raquel Torres](http://silentladies.com/BTorres.html) was. (This picture really doesn’t do her justice, but it was the best one I could find online.) The gown she wears in the first scene of the movie is low cut, revealing, and HOT! And her accent is very charming, too. And then I got a load of [Thelma Todd](http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.spoenk.nl/weblog/archives/200409/thelmatodd.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.spoenk.nl/weblog/archives/200409/thelmatodd.html&h=500&w=333&sz=30&tbnid=_Z3Y2mSe_asJ:&tbnh=126&tbnw=84&start=8&prev=/images%3Fq%3D%2522Thelma%2BTodd%2522%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26c2coff%3D1%26sa%3DN) in _Horse Feathers_. (Also not a great picture, unfortunately.) She’s not quite as voluptuous as Raquel, but still smokin’! And she spends most of the movie in a relatively revealing negligée. I like the scene in which she’s watching Chico play the piano. (The poor girl died in [mysterious circumstances](http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0865298/bio) at the age of 30.) Probably my all-time favorite is [Carole Lombard.](http://us.imdb.com/gallery/mptv/1315/Mptv/1315/0705_2231.jpg?path=pgallery&path_key=Lombard,%20Carole%20(I)) Beautiful, sexy, _and funny!_ She’s just wonderful in _To Be or Not To Be_ and _My Man Godfrey_. (Another life tragically cut short: only 33 when she died in a plane crash.) Who are yours? (Pictures will help make your case.) ---

**Veronica Lake**. Something about her in _“Sullivan’s Travels”_, I know she was supposed to be the blonde vamp, but still, I found her very sexy. \*\* Betty Field\*\*, another from the era. Not Rita Hayworth, but still, something about her. And I loved Carole Lombard in _“My Man Godfrey”_. ---

I think [Irene](http://www.stanford.edu/~brooksie/Stars/DUNNE.JPG) [Dunne](http://www.stanford.edu/~brooksie/Stars/IreneDunne.JPG) is quite the fine lady. The final bedroom scene with her and Cary Grant in **The Awful Truth** is both very funny and very sexy. It’s rather sad she doesn’t get mentioned even half as much as her comedic contemporaries like Lombard and Loy.
