But the first scene wasn’t about misdirection. It was a clue, and I said to my wife during the opening credits, “The boy is going to be the key to the solution.”
Right. His nosebleed was a big clue - the convo between dad and teacher mentioned it happened just days ago too. Bleeding that way helped keep his blood from thickening up as fast as his poor sister’s did.

I loved the interplay between House and the clinic patient: Now you’re going to tell me you can’t bleed in public.

I don’t think House is a real jerk. He just call other people when they are acting like jerks.

You DID sleep with her!

…yes, yes I did…
Really?
…NO!..
HAHAHAHA!
Am I misremembering, or did he actually say “Seriously?” instead of “Really?” Because I remember thinking at the time it was kind of a jab at Grey’s Anatomy, where characters say “Seriously” about 30 times a week, especially when they’re talking about who they’ve had made the intern with two backs with.

Either way, those were some good scenes.

It could have been either, I wasn’t taking notes. 😃

I don’t watch Grey’s Anatomy, so I wouldn’t have picked up on that jab anyway.

Unfortunately, I got stuck watching a clip show last week, and they did a whole segment on characters saying “seriously?” That’s the only reason I picked up on it.

Funniest (and most disturbing) line: “Do you have any hair in your private place?”

Just because it’s funny…

Here is Hugh Laurie, many years ago, singing a song called “Mystery” in which he manages to rhyme “mystery” with “estuary” and “You’ve been dead since 1973”:

Hugh Laurie also performed that song when he was on “Inside the Actors’ Studio” last year:
It always puzzles the heck out of me that nearly every episode involves House’s minions raiding the home of the patient to test various substances and gather up potential toxins that might be related to the case. How common is it that, when you get sick, your medical team heads for your living quarters (often without permission) and rifles through your belongings?
More like, your medical team gives you the standard treatment, and gives your family their condolences when you die. Oops, guess it wasn’t what we thought. Our bad.
This was my first time watching, and granted, IANAD, but is the show _always_ this far fetched?

At least that Scrubs parody makes a little sense now. Because as a stand alone episode (having not experienced House) it just seemed stupid.
The final diagnosis is always something very, very rare or unusual. (but it’s never Lupus. Regular watchers already know this.)

The medicine in this episode was particularly bad though. It tends to be mixed, sometimes the medicine will be decent and other times it’ll be pretty much completely wrong. here is a [site](http://www.politedissent.com/house_pd.html) that dissects each episode for story content and medical accuracy.

Yeah, I’m surprised the dad didn’t say, you found the shirt in a vent under my daughter’s bed? What the hell were you doing\* there\*???

She didn’t have much of a part in this one; it may be worth another look. She and House have had some classic repartee.

Medically, this was the most farfetched episode since the one where we learned that it’s accepted medical practice to cure unrequited love with a lobotomy.

But of course it was about everything but medicine.

“I sent him flowers.”

If I walked into a daycare and asked a 5-year-old girl, “Do you have hair in your special place?”, I’d be calling a lawyer from jail. House can get away with anything.

Remember, he had something good with which to blackmail the teacher.
