One thing that confused me at first was that the opening seemed to mimic the episode where he thought Cuddy had helped him detox but it all turned out to be an hallucination.

You’re right. I noticed that.

I have to admit that I am not happy with the Cuddy/House relationship, but I would have been \*really \*pissed off if the whole thing had been another dream or some such.

I’m not trying to threadshit here, but a serious question for those of you who are excited about the show - is every episode still exactly the same? House MD was fun for a while, but every episode was either lupus, or some disease the patient caught while on a pedophilic journey to the outskirts of Asia which he was afraid to disclose. Once I got the formula pinned down, I was too distracted by it to keep watching, since I could always predict what the next scene would be.

> Very dramatic episode. A crane collapse demolished a building, Cuddy and House on site with the rescuers. House found a woman trapped underground, her leg crushed, leg had to be amputated but she still died. (this reverberated with House because of the problems with his leg). He went home, smashed bathroom mirror to get to the hidey-hole where he stashed Vicodin. Cuddy showed up, said she broke up with Lucas, said she loved House..

I need something explained to me – House and Wilson were living together, weren’t they? I was under the impression that House was no longer living in his old place. So how did he have his old place with the mirror with the vicodin behind it? Was living with Wilson temporary?
I couldn’t get through last night’s episode – I’m pretty much an anti-House/Cuddy-shipper. Yeah, I get it that there might be some sexual tension there, but I can’t imagine what kind of pathology Cuddy would have to have in order to think that a long-term relationship with House would work. The list of truly horrible things that House has done to her over the past 7 seasons is large and appalling. Not to mention that shacking up with House is practically professional suicide – no way can she continue to defend his random acts of antisocial behavior if she’s sleeping with him.

There was also something annoyingly Three’s Company about the way that the first thing that House does when he hooks up with Cuddy is lie to her and sneak off to the bathroom to make phone calls.

I won’t even try to defend the formula, since I started a thread not too long ago lampooning it, down to the timing of “the look” which tends to occur at the :50 (give or take :05) mark week after week.

Nor will I excuse the bizarre and one-in-a-trillion odds that the symptoms would occur in just that combination.

I just like the perennially subservient team who seem to cling to their loyalty to an unappreciative boss and to do all in their power to enable his curmudgeonly behavior. Even Wilson, who at times shows flashes of intelligence and the ability to have an original thought, cows to House over and over.

And yet, bring in a truly “bad guy” opponent, as they have on several occasions, and you can’t help but root for the House charisma to win out.

In spite of all its flaws, it’s one show I won’t miss and even enjoy the marathon reruns on USA and Bravo when they don’t conflict with other shows.

Wilson hooked up again with the first ex-Mrs. Wilson, and they were trying to have some privacy for themselves, so they kind of [del]threw him out[/del] suggested that he go home. Wilson suffered guilt about it and was considering asking him to come back so he could keep an eye on House’s backsliding tendencies.

Yes, it’s formulaic. But complaining about that is like complaining that a baseball game is formulaic. The pleasure is in the little bits of fun and wit that are hung on the formula, and the way they dance around the same structure, but in slightly different variations time after time.

Yup; if the formula bugs you, this isn’t the show for you.

I LOVED last night’s episode - I think what I liked most about it was the characters addressing what everyone at home was thinking - “This won’t work.” The answer to that was pretty good, too - House has a pathology, he knows he does, Cuddy knows he does, and she loves him anyway. The problem won’t keeping her around; the problem will be making her leave if House gets tired of her. 🙂

I also loved Chase flat out asking 13 to have sex with him (moving up his long game). He’s kind of turned into one of my favourite characters on the show.

Of course House knows he has a pathology. He’s brillant! Though image how you would feel if anyone you associated with had an IQ of 50.

The only reason I _was_ watching the show before was for hints of Huddy, so I’m in for what is hopefully the long run now! 😃

I love a good bromance as much as anybody, and would love to see a bromance become a romance, but I’m taking the opportunity to laugh at the Hilson shippers who thought they’d get canon. I never get my pairings on TV, now that I have one I’m grabbing on tight and not letting go.

When she had vanished from the bedroom, I almost threw a heavy object at the TV. So they’d better not fuck with the reality of their relationship. I can’t afford a new TV.

And it’s interesting that some people (like me) are glad that ever episode doesn’t follow the usual formula . . . and other people are complaining about it.

And yeah, I loved Wilson getting pulled from the window.

Man, this entire House/Cuddy thing is stupid. I hope it doesn’t last, because Happy House isn’t worth watching.

I mean, it makes no sense. Cuddy “loves” House, even though House has treated her like shit frequently and consistently, yet here she is, hopping in bed with him. Why in the hell would she do that? A single mother abandoning a solid relationship with an interesting and smart person to be trampled over again. If I wanted to watch melodrama in a hospital setting, I’d watch General Hospital.

I can almost hear my girlfriend shushing me when I was complaining about it. She likes the House-relationship stuff. I think she has a crush on him.

Addendum: she says she doesn’t like assholes, but she likes House and dates me. Many people think I’m an asshole, so I think she has a thing for jerks.

Double addendum (What Does It Meeeean?): My girlfriend is about to read this thread. I predict another post from me very soon.

I generally like to see the show break formula–the medical mysteries tend to bore me, since there’s no way I’ll figure it out and the patients are often assholes. I didn’t care for the way it broke formula this particular time, though; watching House & Cuddy bum around House’s apartment and shag like bunnies is even less interesting than watching them diagnose some jerk’s obscure malady.

The special bath was pretty funny, though.

I got so sick of the House/Cuddy plot I changed the channel. Either she stays or she goes. Enough with the back-and-forth stuff. Or as one single mother I know said, “Stop thinking with your heart and think with your kid.”
