They could end it by nominating a Republican. Right now, they just don’t feel like doing it. I suppose enough Democrats could agree to vote present to allow McCarthy to win in exchange for concessions (more Dems on committees, no impeachment) but I don’t think they trust him to keep his word. Some of the promises he made to get Jim Jordan and MTG on his side would have to be shelved. ---
