My sister teaches kindergartners. She teaches them all “You get what you get and you don’t pitch a fit.” The kids happily run around reciting it to each other and somehow begin to learn that tantrums don’t work at school.

Mine made a deal with us kids: we had to take a number of bites equal to our age at the time before we pushed any food away.

A few years ago, my sister started a small food service business in her home kitchen. The name is “You’ll Eat It and You’ll Like It!”
It’s more of a promise than a directive.
