My username is one that I chose on another board. It was a “Quit Smoking Message Board”. Anyway I was trying to quit the nasty habit and chose **Ashkicker** because I thought I was going to kick some ash and get rid it. Unfortunately it also comes out like I’ll “Kick Your A$$”, which is not the true meaning on my name. Sigh. I guess I’m a failure. ☹ ---

Remember when you first got online and signed up for all those free accounts, spam lists and newletters? I didn’t want to have to remember lots of user names, so I needed something I thought would never be used already. I was then deep into genealogy and so I started using the name of my umpteenth grandmother - Mahala. However, someplace before this, Mahala was already taken, and without giving a moment’s thought I was aahala. Haven’t had any duplication problems since. I am sometimes referred to as a female, which I’m not.😃 ---

Yeah, I decided a few weeks ago to stop making the "m"s in my name distinct even on something I was going to hand in for a grade unless it was a semiformal thing. Wow, it was three years ago… I registered for another board with this name after trying ‘gandalf’ and ‘bilbo’, and I think I might change to ‘Rincewind’ soon, a. to show my appreciation of Discworld ®\*, and b. because ‘dwalin’ doesn’t really suit me. Too obscure, I’m not really a Tolkien fan, and it’s lowercase. \*-well, not really ®, but I felt like it. ---

Needed a name so scrolled through my iPod to find something appropriate. I have a guy friend who’s always telling me I’m not like the other girls - so (thinking Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus), that Girl from Mars was the right name for me. Plus the song rocks. ---

Mine came from two songs that make me groove, “Super Freak” by Rick James, and “Sex-o-matic Venus Freak” by Macy Gray. I picked this name up when I decided to change my boring other name from several chat rooms. ---

While I lurked, I despaired of ever coming up with a witty/catchy/original/memorable nick. After much thought (really…no, really), I found myself thumbing through my CDs, stumbled across one of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s and “Little Wing” I became. It’s better than what I came up with using **davmilasav’s** suggestion: moorodiore. More odor? I still mostly lurk, though. ---

At first, I was going to use Glotta: the tongue of fate, but it sounded awkward as a user name. Then I glanced over my bookshelf (positioned conveniently on my right side within an arm’s reach) and there was Robert Rankin’s _Nostradamus ate my hamster_ yelling: “Pick me! Pick me!” I combined it with the name of my favourite careteker in charge in the master’s absence and there it was. ---

Mine is actually my character’s name on Guild Wars. I sort of registered on a whim, and that was the first name that popped into my head. When I first came up with the name, I was trying to think of something fantasy-related and thought of Dervish. Not sure why. I also needed to pick a surname. I have Welsh ancestry and Jones went well with Dervish. I may change my name when I offically register. ---

When I came here I didn’t know what a messageboard was. I wanted to find out who played the guitar in Carly Simon’s “You’re so vain”. I needed to make up a name. hlanelee is my signon name everywhere. It is my name. hlanelee is my name as decreed by my Grandfather. h for Howard, my Grandfather’s favorite brother in law, he was a cop that died when he caught a stray bullet fired during a disturbance at the Gatorbowl. lane after Hondo Lane in the popular John Wayne movie. lee, the family last name. My initials are hll, almost HELL, I like to tell people. ---

**Jet Jaguar** is a giant, flying, Ultraman-like robot from the movie _Godzilla vs. Megalon_. I first picked the name for the _Mystery Science Theater 3000_ newsgroup because GvM was shown on MST3K, and JJ was spoofed in a memorable host segment, and nobody else was using the name at the time. It has been my standard online handle ever since - I’ve been using it going on 11 years now.
