Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers are still going strong as ever. Buffett is back on tour, with some upcoming concerts in Nashville and other locations in the midwest. He’s turning 75 this year, but he seems to have more energy than the Energizer Bunny. I actually like his recent music better than the stuff he was doing in the late 80s and early 90s. It doesn’t seem like he’s lost any of his skills or talent due to aging, and I’m grateful for that. ---

**How are the bands you liked in high school doing today?** Dey be dead. . . . Seriously, my kid was looking at the music on his ipod and swore “Shit! All my favorite bands are dying off! I mean, damn, The Who, AC/DC, Zepp’lin, Doors, the Dead, even the motherfukkin’ Beatles!” ---

Her music isn’t often to my taste, but she has terrific pipes and delivery. As for the song you posted, whoever used an electric piano & synths needs to go back to 1985, but her singing is excellent. ---

They’re dead, broken up, or otherwise not feeling very well. No point in naming most names because I absolutely hate commercial music from the time that horrible Superstars radio format happened in the 70’s – I saw the writing on the wall for my musical taste. Out of all the bands I liked in high school the one going the strongest is Pere Ubu. Henry Cow is broken up, but the members have stayed active. Nowadays my listening is generally free jazz, vaporwave, and academic electronic music from the 60’s and 70’s. If it has a dance routine to me, it’s not worth one second of my rapidly shortening life. ---

When Lydon came out for Trump, I sent his management all my PIL albums with a terse letter explaining that I would no longer be associating. Lydon responded with a handwritten note that said “fuck you too.” ---

I like his trolling qualities. But I can’t take him supporting a media star in politics. I can’t take anyone supporting a media star in politics, and in real life the second I find out they’re ghosted. It’s better that way so that I don’t carry out any violent urges. ---

My sister and her friend hung around with a lot of hair metal bands in the late '80s and early '90s, and she tells the story about them having a backstage pass to some concert (might have been Poison or Cinderella) in that era, so they were watching the concert from one side of the stage. This English guy in his 30s was also there, and started chatting with them. Very nice, very articulate, and he was very amused that my sister and her friend had no idea who he was. (He was John Lydon, of course, and it appears that they caught him on a good night.) ---
