# How are the oldest hybrid cars holding up?

Ever since the introduction of the hybrid car, there’s been some concern that it’s a new technology with an unproven track record, and that no one knew how well it would age. It’s been about ten years, so how well have the cars aged?

No idea right now, but Wikipedia indicates that the oldest hybrid car is over ten years old; [link](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hybrid_electric_vehicle#History) 🙂

My mother ordered the first generation of Toyota Prius cars. Hers is the wagon model. She still drives it every day and it has been remarkably free of repairs.

I keep hearing that. None of it’s new technology, though – it’s a new application of existing technology. Batteries will be the exception, though.
